What’s App-enning?? App Series: What’s Up Doc?

Thank you to Disney Junior for providing access to the Doc McStuffin’s Appisode for review purposes.

It seems like if we’re not at the doctor’s for a well-check, blood work, sick visit you name it, I’m on medical websites checking out what symptoms are or home remedies for small issues, and the girls are watching or pretending to play Disney Junior’s Doc McStuffins.

Needless to say doctors are a big hit in our household. I even wanted to be a pediatrician when I was growing up. – random comment of the day.

I figured since medicine is on our brain I’d feature some of my favorite smartphone apps on that topic.

WebMD Mobile AppThe obvious choice for my first app, for a mom’s go-to when her family is ailing is of course the WebMD Mobile App. I love that I can not only read articles on whatever I’m searching for, but check out lots of helpful information for my specific area, {how cool is that?!?!}, WebMD shows me the health forecast, pollen counts, UV ray harshness and more. As a mom who’s trying to stay ahead of the game, this is a must-download in my book. Head HERE to read more details and if you want download on your smartphone.

For the kiddos, who, as I mentioned LOVE Doc McStuffins, Disney Junior has come out with an interactive episode, better known as an appisode, where your kiddos can watch a real Doc McStuffins episode and play along.

The Disney Junior Doc McStuffins app features activities to help rescue Ronda the helicopter, and save Boppy from deflating. With each of the mini-episodes there are several opportunities for your child to “help” their favorite characters and learn how to care for others as well.

Doc McStuffins Appisode

We like this app because it shows real episodes that my girls have seen on Disney Junior, and also that it’s not too difficult for my 3 year-old, and not too easy for my 6 year-old. The Disney Junior Appisode app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch is free and the Doc McStuffins App is available for $4.99 and you can see details or download HERE. (Also check out these other Disney Junior Appisodes)

Our family pharmacy go-to is CVS/pharmacy. I love their mobile app because it has some pretty helpful features that include: the option to scan our prescription refills, a drug interaction checker to make sure we aren’t in danger when it comes to taking several medications {prescription and over the counter OTC}, a pill identifier, prescription history which is great for remembering what my family has taken when doctors or medical staff need that information, and lots and lots more, seriously, this app does so many great things and saves me time not having to call my doctor’s office or wait to speak with a pharmacist.

So those are a few of my favorite medical related apps, how about you? Do you like them too? Any that aren’t in this post that you want to share with us??
