Miss A loves The Fresh Beat Band on Nick Jr. and secretly so does Daddy B. {Shhh don’t tell him I told you.} Nick Jr. first shared this fun show with American families in August of 2009. Since then, the musical fun that Kiki, Twist, Shout and Marina bring have taught and continue to teach valuable lessons to preschool viewers, like getting along, not giving up, and solving problems as a team.
The Fresh Beat Band, was originally planned to be called, “The JumpArounds,” however before the show officially aired the name was changed. Following suit, in this past season, season two, some of The Junior Beats {the mini Fresh Beat kids} and the actor who played Reed, the owner of the Good Note Music Store were replaced. Is it me or does it seem like Nick Jr. is mixing things up with The Fresh Beat Band from season to season? Now that the third season of Fresh Beat band is upon us, things are no different.
Recent clips for the show’s next “new” season have sprung up on Nick Jr. touting lots of new things for the show, while also showing off a new cast member, Tara Perry. Perry will take on the role of Marina, who was originally played by Shayna Rose.
Allegidly, Shayna Rose is getting married and perusing other career options that are taking her away from The Fresh Beat Band. I know Miss A and maybe Daddy B too, will miss her dearly.
What do we know about the “new” Marina, Tara Perry though? Perry, age 25, has directed and stared in quite a few youtube videos, and had a tv appearance here and there, but her “claim to fame” is that she is The Movie Maven on Sci-Fi’s Mania.com. For more on Perry, check out her IMDB page she doesn’t have a wikipedia page yet, but now that she’s on Nick Jr. I assume that will be coming soon.
Although the “new” Marina still has red hair {noticeably darker}, and a turquoise and purple outfit, you can’t pull one over my kiddo. I’m not sure if it’s an effort to help Marina blend in or some new duds for season three, but all four of the Fresh Beats have new outfits, and on a side note hubby thinks that Shout has gained some muscle {that’s debatable, I think it was just covered by the collegiate sweater}.
While I’m not a huge fan of change, especially when it comes to television characters, she is a fellow Sagittarius so maybe I’ll cut her a little slack. Honestly though, I’m not really sure how a different Marina will affect the show, personally, I don’t think that it will, especially when it comes to the kids. I think they’ll be confused for a minute, get over it, and be dancing all over the room like with any other episode.

I’d love to hear your opinions on the topic. What are your thoughts on the new Marina? Do you like the changes that are coming to Nick Jr.’s Fresh Beat Band? Is your child {or someone else in your household} excited for season three?

Personally, I love the old Marina. I don’t think my 3 year old can tell the difference tho. A lot of the comments here praised new Marina’s singing voice. Have you guys heard her sing?
hmmm
Well to be honest, I dont really mind the new Marina, the only thing that bothers me, is well, she seems smaller and well small boned and thin. The “old” Marina looked like a normal, healthy women. I would pefer my children see that. They havent seemed to notice, so, oh well. Oh and I love the songs, well most of them. There are fun for my kids, we are going to see them live tomorrow.
I like the new Marina!
Personally, I thought the old Marina, while cute and sweet, was a little stiff with the dancing – very little rhythm. The new Marina does seem to have a better singing voice and better moves. BUT, I still liked the old Marina – she was adorable!
The new Marina is the BEST!
She makes for a much better Marina.
She sings, acts and dances better she has more rhythm and spunk.
The old marina never seemed to fit in, while Tara Perry seems to excel in this role.
The comment about her being skinnier is just not true. She may be a tiny bit shorter but she is a powerhouse. She has a dancers body. She has thicker legs then the old marina bigger bottom and more toned arms and legs. Personally I would want my daughter to look up to a physically fit muscular dancer.
Also we have to remember the most important thing of all. Shayna Rose left this show to pursue her “music career”.
She did not appreciate or think that entertaining our children everyday was good enough for her.
So I personally love the new Marina!
Long Live the new Marina I hope she does not leave as well.

The new Marina is just as good as the old..the issue I have is that they have made her a copy of the old in a lame attempt to fool kids into thinking she is the same girl. Kind of creepy and they are not falling for it, especially when the networks play episodes with one girl in the am and the other in the pm. Give her a new name and have the original girl say goodbye!
I thought I was the only one that noticed….my kids don’t necessarily watch fresh beat band
I think I watch it more than they do, they watch it if its on. But for me to notice a new cast member I thought was unusual. Im glad im not the only parent to have noticed.
i hate the new marina
Omg come back shayna rose!!! My six month old daughter and i love you so much
My niece watches this show with me all the time, and I have never been able to tell difference. Lol
we love the “new” Marina. To my family she is a much better fit with the show. We love the way the sound of the music changed with the changes too. We loved Fresh Beat as it was in the beginning, but love it much more now! We watch all Fresh Beat episodes in the end regardless of who is playing Marina.
Love the new Marina! She fits in with the show much better than the original actress. Her acting, singing, and dancing are more natural and not forced as seemed with Shayna Rose. My son doesn’t know the difference between the two actresses but as a parent that has seen both versions of Marina, the new Marina is a keeper.
i miss the OLD Marina!!!!
I NEVER liked old marina, she wasn’t a good/energetic actress or dancer. I don’t like new marina either, she looks like she’s 30. Way too mature looking.
i’ve never heard of the new or old marina! hmmm…i guess i should be watching more t.v.!
I like the old Marina better and My children know the difference and the difference’s in they way the song’s sound.. But I guess we got to get use to it
