Traveling families: I am excited to be heading to Myrtle Beach with my family in September, but for those of you traveling this summer, and more specifically those of you either planning a trip this weekend or if you’re already in town, the City of Myrtle Beach and the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating their 75th anniversaries THIS Saturday, July 20, with beach music, cupcakes and more.
The Beach Music Festival aka grand birthday party, will be held Saturday, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Ocean Boulevard, between Eighth and Ninth Avenues North. All anniversary related events are free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to use the hashtag ‘#myr75’ to follow and join the conversation during the anniversary celebration activities.
Saturday’s events include, The Catalinas performing on the main stage at 5:30 p.m., followed by The Original Drifters at 7:30 p.m. and the Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards at 9:15 p.m.
Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne, both featured in TLC’s hit series “DC Cupcakes” and owners of Georgetown Cupcakes, will attempt a world record by building a giant pyramid with 7,500 of their best cupcakes. Meet the sisters between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. and enjoy their delicious cupcakes starting at 7 p.m.
The weekend fun continues on Sunday, July 21, with The Salt Games, presented by Native Sons, at Plyler Park in downtown Myrtle Beach.
