Protect Your Smile and Enamel Health as You Age

This is a sponsored post on behalf of CVS/pharmacy and Colgate Enamel Health all opinions are my own.

It’s a fact that adult oral care and protecting our enamel is vital for a healthy smile.

There are so many abrasive foods and drinks that wear down our tooth enamel on a daily basis that it’s really important to be mindful of how to maintain our clean, strong smiles.

As a coffee and soda drinker I love the NEW Colgate Enamel Health toothpaste and toothbrush because together, they help to replenish natural calcium and polish tooth enamel. Healthy enamel doesn’t just look good, it also helps create a smoother surface so germs are less likely to stick as well.

Being an adult undergoing teeth straightening treatment my teeth have also been subject to a lot of wear, so anything I can do to whiten and protect my teeth during and after treatment you can count me in.

It’s easy to shopping for essentials like toothbrushes and toothpaste at my local CVS/pharmacy. I love that it’s not only a convenient one-stop shop for everything my family needs, but CVS also makes it easy to save money just by using your ExtraCare Card. With ExtraCare, you’ll earn 2% back on your purchases, {paid out quarterly in the form of ExtraBucks}.

If you’ve been a long-time reader you’ll know I’m someone who loves to write about oral health and saving money, both important things to keep our homes and families healthy and happy.

I’d love for one lucky MommyBKnowsBest.com reader to win their own Colgate Enamel Health prize pack featuring the 360 Enamel Health Toothbrush and Colgate Enamel Health Toothpaste.

Ways to Help Children with Canker Sores

Thank you Jack N’ Jill for sending a sample of your product.

Lil’ C is a child who, right before she turned 3 years old, has started to get frequent canker sores. In case you are not familiar with the term, canker sores, are the lesion-type sores inside your mouth that can often cause pain and discomfort, especially during mealtimes.

Canker sores are not contagious, and often the result of genetics. They mostly occur in women in their teens and early 20’s although young children to older adults may get them as well. Diet is also another leading cause of canker sores, some studies say it can signify the lack of enough vitamin B-12 in one’s daily intake.

While we don’t know exactly what is causing our child’s canker sore outbreaks, we do know some things she’s been in contact that contribute to her being more prone to get them, and also the length of time they take to heal. Being a momma, the more I can help her stay comfortable and get less canker sores, the more I am willing to do and research.

Please do keep in mind that I am not a medical professional, only sharing my own personal story with you and recommend before starting any treatment with your own child, whether medical or at home, that you receive approval from your pediatrician.

We try to stay away from anything acidic, which, for Lil’ C, mostly includes citrus, {lemonade, oranges,} and tomato sauces, {pasta dishes, pizza}, although your child may eat more acidic foods, you can find them listed here: www.webmd.com

We also found out that some toothpastes contain a special foaming ingredient known as sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), that irritates canker sores and can sometimes be a cause of an outbreak as well. In our search for organic toothpaste that does not contain SLS, we were introduced to Jack N’ Jill Certified Organic toothpaste.

Jack N’ Jill not only has no SLS, but there are no preservatives, and no fluoride. The toothpaste comes in five different Organic Fruit Flavors that smell AND taste good. Believe me, I’ve tried a lot of organic toothpastes, and Jack N’ Jill is one of the few organic toothpastes that tastes good {of course I tried it too!!!} Miss A and Lil’ C agree!!

Jack N' Jill Toothpaste

We highly recommend using Jack N’ Jill to prevent canker sore outbreaks in little ones, but also to promote good oral health, remember to also choose a toothbrush with soft bristles if your child is prone to canker sores!

Hopefully some of the tips in this post will help you if you have a child who suffers from chronic canker sores, but again, please remember, if the outbreaks are frequent consult your pediatrician for medical advice.

I received Jack N’ Jill products which helped aid in my canker sore prevention research. The opinions and thoughts in this post are my own, honest words. Your opinions may vary.
