Dora’s Christmas CD

Dora The Explorer is ringing in the Holidays with her fun CD, Dora’s Christmas. This holly, jolly CD features Christmas Classics like “Deck the Halls”, “Jingle Bells”, and “Feliz Navidad”. Also included on this snowy sensation are Bonus Tracks from Dora’s Holiday Movie Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure. You’ll want to make sure Swiper doesn’t swipe this CD!
Along with fun tunes on this Sony Label album, kids will enjoy the great bonus content also on this disk. Bring fun wall papers, lyrics, and a Dora’s Christmas Carol mini video to life using a computer CD drive.
This CD’s insert features the usual song information, but also includes a festive Feliz Navidad/Christmas game board and pieces. For those of you not wanting to cut your insert please note there is a great printable version in the Bonus Content.
For those of you looking for the more traditional versions of well-known Christmas songs, you’ll have to look elsewhere. When I first listened to the CD with my daughter, I was expecting the songs to be the original version but of course sung by Dora.
Dora incorporates fun friends from her show into her songs relating to the kids who follow her show. Dora’s version of “Deck the Halls” mentions some of her best friends, “See Boots the Monkey jump before us. Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la Big Red Chicken joins the chorus. Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.”
As expected Dora also includes great learning opportunities by including Spanish into many of the songs on this album including “Here Comes Santa Claus.”
“Here comes Santa Claus, Aquí viene Santa Claus, To visit me and my friends, Everyone’s waitin’, anticipatin’, As his sleigh comes round the bend. Bells are ringin’, Boots is singin’, All is merry and bright. So hang your stockings on Nochebuena, ‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.” I’d expect nothing less from this Hispanic sweetheart.
If your child is a Nickelodeon fan they will adore this exciting CD not only because it features voices from Dora the Explorer, but also friends from The Backyardigans, and Go, Diego, Go!
Kids will recognize the “Dora The Explorer Christmas Theme” which is a jingle bell filled version of the original Dora Theme song. Parents will love that it features the Young People’s Chorus of New York City.
After I got over my initial shock of the “Dora-fied” words, my daughter and I were dancing around the living room enjoying the upbeat song, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”. So if you’re like me you may want to listen to the album once through, sample it online, and once you buy it just have fun with your kids. Dora’s Christmas is a really fun CD for kids who love Dora the Explorer to be able to enjoy Christmas with singing, and silliness.

Are you a Do-It-All Mom?

This is a sponsored post from Style Network.

I am definitely a, “Do-it-all Mom”, I’m not patting myself on the back at all because I know there are plenty of moms (and dads) who do all that I do and some that do even more in a day’s work.

MommyB word cloudI love being busy, I’ll admit, but of course there are days when my plate is overflowing and I don’t know exactly which task to tackle first. Though life gets hectic, I wouldn’t trade being a mommy for anything, and occasionally I have to say no and try to find my own balance.

Are you that parent? Do you fill your plate up with activities, taking care of the kiddos, working, home life and more? How do you do it??

Tia & Tamera Mowry, who you may remember were the teen stars of hit comedy, “Sister, Sister” exemplify the delicate balance of juggling work and motherhood, marriage and family. In their Style Network docu-series “Tia & Tamera,” their parenting and business styles have evolved in two different directions, these twin sisters search to redefine their roles as women who also are wives, mothers and sisters.

Tia & Tamera - Season 3

I can totally relate to this video from clips from Tia & Tamara’s show, how about you??

Season 3 of Style’s hit show “Tia & Tamera” returns on Sunday July 14th at 8/7C. Be sure to check out more details on the Style Network’s Website HERE. 5 Ways I Unwind After the Kids are in Bed

Being a work-at-home mom is no joke, I won’t list what I do daily between work and being a momma and running the house, because I know your job(s) are probably just as packed and filled with awesomeness and craziness at the same time.

The cocktail of emails, chauffeuring, tweeting, preparing meals, and sweeping up crumbs, leaves me, most nights, drained. After the girls are in bed, and after their obligatory attempts to get food/drink/more hugs and they’re really really  asleep, I get to take a big breath in and let it out.

Being a blogger I do my writing mostly at night, but often times before I begin work for the night I give myself a little down-time. For me, it’s important to have even 30 minutes to unwind after my kids are in bed. I don’t know about you, but I usually find myself doing mindless, calming activities to release the day’s stresses.

Here are 5 Ways that I Unwind after the Kids are in Bed:

Have a “hard drink”. No, I’m not talking about liquor, or even wine, I’m actually talking about my favorite pop or if you will, soda. My soda is like my beer at the end of the night. I know it may sound weird drinking caffeine so late at night, but it also helps give me a little kick that I need to get the rest of my work done too.

Tablet Games MommyB

Become a video game junkie.  At least for 10 or so minutes. I love playing time-management games. Again, I know it probably sounds weird considering most of my day is time management, but unlike real life….I can conquer these games, and complete levels…at home, not so much completion, just repetition. Wash, dry, fold, put away, wash, dry…..

Shocker, Television.  No shocker here, I use tv shows to help me decompress. Typically these days I stick to dance or cooking competitions, or some revamping show where hosts take a business and give it a new plan. For me, they are mindless shows where I don’t have to think about the character plot, and can just sit and veg out and my brain cool off.

Surfing the Inter Webs.  While it may seem logical to not be on the computer when I’m not working, I really enjoy checking out a few websites that show off baked delights, crazy cakes, new biracial hairstyles for the girls, and new kids movie trailers. It’s nice to be online and not have a specific purpose other than laughing, or finding something really cool to show the kids the next day.

Quaker Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies MommyB

Treat Myself to a treat.  If I were a treat, I would want to be the treatiest treat in all the land, or just something that is the perfect snack. I love the fact that Quaker Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies are made with Quaker® oats AND there are four cookies in each convenient, handy pack, so I can stop at just one…I said “I can”, meaning if I wanted to.

Quaker® Chocolate Chip Cookies allow me to be indulgent while still providing the power of Quaker® oats to fuel me for whatever the rest of the day might hold.

Why We Love Raggs Kids Show

**Thanks to Raggs PR for sending us some great products to try out.**

15 years before they appeared on broadcast television Raggs was created, by a parent, for their six year old. Luckily, the idea grew and now my children, and yours are able to reap the benefits of learning and laughter from Raggs television shows, DVDs, concerts/performances, an interactive website, and even Raggs themed products.

My girls enjoyed watching The Wiggles and often on the same station we would continue watching programming, which included Raggs. They liked how diverse the characters were and of course the fact that Raggs and his friends were in a band didn’t hurt either, {my girls love singing and dancing}. Although, I must admit we never really made it one of our regular shows…until we got a chance to check out more episodes on DVD recently.

Upon opening the package from Raggs, my girls fell in love with the plush Raggs stuffed toy {which you can purchase on their website}. Not only was he a great size but he was very soft, and features a “hidden” pocket to store treasure {say my girls}.

Raggs and Miss A MommyB

We are very mindful of what our girls watch and want it to be not only entertaining but educational as well. After watching Raggs with them, I truly feel that this programing in wholesome and worth watching for any family. Not to mention that some of the songs featured in the show are also on their CD. We love dancing to the Raggs music and it’s also a safe CD to have in for children’s parties and play dates as well.

Raggs and his friends, Razzles, Pido, B. Max, and Triby not only love to play music, but they love to be active and are always learning from situations they stumble upon. We love that their website features so many activities, videos and information for us to learn and play more with Raggs and his friends.

Raggs Website

Miss A regularly asked for Raggs as her video and music choices in the car on our trips, and this girl has a lot of choices so that certainly means a lot coming from her. Both of my girls, were laughing and really getting into dancing and listening to Raggs and the other characters on the show, so much that we have truly become fans of Raggs and no longer occasional watchers.

Raggs Collage MommyB

Make sure you check out Raggs for your family by visiting their newly updated and super interactive website at Raggs.com, we love Pido’s Rockin’ Code printable sheet, Raggs TV games, and their shop! Miss A and Lil C are loving the activity and sticker books we got, perfect for summer rest time, so they can calm down, focus, and relax with their favorite characters.

I received products from Raggs in order to give my honest, thorough opinions on their services and products. The words and thoughts expressed in this post are my own, however yours may vary.

Reading Rainbow App Featuring LeVar Burton

Reading Rainbow Logo

Reading Rainbow Logo “Take a look, it’s in a book, a Reading Rainbow…” to this day, these lyrics still bring a huge feeling of nostalgia and GREAT memories to mind. As a childhood book worm, {I say childhood because I have a lot less time to read now being a working mom than I did as a carefree kiddo,} I adored Reading Rainbow, and it’s host, LeVar Burton. The books featured and fun learning segments definitely stole my attention, that is, when I wasn’t actually reading books themselves.

Now, as a mom I definitely want my own children to have those warm fuzzy memories from quality shows they grow up on, unfortunately a lot of the programming, including Reading Rainbow aren’t on standard cable anymore. But guess what?!?!

“Reading Rainbow, that much loved PBS TV show that inspired a love of reading among children, is back – now as an app for iPad. For the first time, children ages 3-9 can enjoy a library of hundreds of curated books customized to their age and interests, combined with video field trips that connect the stories children read to the world they live in. The Reading Rainbow app features LeVar Burton, host of the series, also known for his roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Roots.”

Reading Rainbow App

Right now, the Reading Rainbow app is free for download on the iPad. A subscription service is available, offering convenient, unlimited access to an extensive library of quality books, videos, activities and more at a price parents can appreciate.

Here’s LeVar explaining a little more about the app and it’s great features:

LeVar wants parents to know that, “Reading will never go out of style, but the tools used for learning are changing. I am excited to bring Reading Rainbow back so that parents who watched the show can now share that same feel-good experience with their own children but on a platform that resonates with today’s digital kids.”

I love that as a parent I can help Miss A select what she’ll be reading from a variety of acclaimed children’s publishers and countless award-winning books and the new releases they’ll be constantly adding.

Along with the fun stories the app also includes:

A Virtual Backpack to hold a child’s’ favorite stories and a customizable virtual I.D. where you can add their picture

Celebrity Host – LeVar Burton is featured throuhout the app and personally I grew up feeling like he very calming and had a great teaching personality. What’s even cooler is that my kids will begin to recognize him and feel even more “at home” when they play the app.

Video Field Trips – Journey with LeVar Burton to visit fascinating people and places. Children are transported on exciting real-life adventures relating the stories they read to the world they live
Cool Reward System – Kids earn stickers each time they finish a book so they can be proud of their achievements and also want to read even more.

and one of my favorite features: the Parent Dashboard Review real-time information regarding what
your child is reading and personalized tips to get your kiddo talking about the book enhancing their learning experience.

And of course so much more!! I am a STRONG believe that reading is important and make it a daily event in our own home. If you have an iPad, I encourage you to check the app out, it’s free to put on your iPad and if you decide you like it a subscription is $9.99 a month recurring or $49.99 “introductory” one-year

For more information on the Reading Rainbow App, visit www.RRKidz.com. * Introductory price is valid through August 30, 2012

Please let me know if you check it out and what YOU think of it!!

I love Reading Rainbow and am writing this post as a member of Child’s Play Communications. However, the opinions expressed in this post are my own honest opinions, yours may vary, however if you don’t love LeVar Burton, we may need to talk.

We LOVE Nick Jr’s Peppa Pig

Peppa Pig

Family values and spending time with one another is so important in our family of four. We want our girls to understand that we will always set aside time, as a family, to partake in activities, silliness, and volunteering. Having a strong familial bond is so important to us, that’s why we enjoy the children’s show Peppa Pig.

Peppa PigPeppa Pig is a hilarious preschool cartoon on Nick Jr., that aired in early 2001. Before it previewed here in the states it was a longtime favorite with British kiddos, and I’m not surprised why. Not only is the family, (Peppa the, “star” {obviously}, Mommy Pig, Daddy Pig, and George) comedic, but they show what a family is all about, spending quality time together.

The show features so many different relationships; parent-to-child, sibling-to-sibling, child-to-child, and family dynamics as well. It’s fun to watch the entire family engage in each other’s activities and be supportive.

Peppa’s mom and dad help her build a castle, the entire family goes on bike rides, Peppa and her brother play hide-and-seek, and it all ends in loud snorts of laughter!

Not only do Miss A and Lil’ C really enjoy the show, but I like watching with them as well. We want to instill strong family roots and be present in our children’s lives and the best way to do that for us, is to start now, while they are young.

The only thing I didn’t really care for personally are the “fat jokes” towards Daddy Pig, (he laughs them off, but I could do without) but other than that, we really enjoy watching and learning from Peppa and her family.

What is one way that you and your family spend time together??

Make sure you check out Peppa Pig Monday through Friday at 12:00PM and 12:30PM and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00PM and 2:30PM on Nick Jr. Also visit their website http://peppapig.com and on Facebook.

I was not compensated for this post, however I did receive Peppa Pig products in order to better familiarize myself with the program. This in no way effects the outcome of my post, all thoughts and opinions are my own, yours may vary.

MommyBKnowsBest on: To Be A Television Star #vlogmom

#vlogmom Wow this week’s #vlogmom post came very quickly. I’ve been working on an awesome project that hopefully I’ll be able to share even more details with you next month, plus being a mommy and wife too. So excuse my tardiness for posting this a little later in the day that I usually do.

This week was MY QUESTION, which of course I HAD to answer, and it was, “What television show would you like to be a guest on.” Automatically my mind went to talk shows, I’m not sure why and the fact that I’m a huge fan of this lady anyway. Check my answer out:

I love Bethenny Frankel, so excited about her new show, check out her website for more details and updates: http://www.bethennytv.com/ and who knows, maybe some day I will be a guest on her show, how awesome would that be?!?!?

Now tell me, What television show would YOU like to be a guest on???

Thanks again for stopping by this week and remember to check out these other fun answers listed below and check us out on vlogmom.com
