Kids Holiday Fashion Tips

This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of OshKosh B’gosh; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

The holiday season is busy for our family, from hosting our own gatherings to attending get togethers with friends and even school parties and Christmas programs. As modern traditional parents, we want our kids to look festive but still be comfortable and age-appropriate.

We love the kids fashion that OshKosh B’gosh offers this time of year. Whether you have a child who likes fancy dresses or a child who prefers a nice sweater and jeans, OshKosh really does cater to a variety of styles.

With so many events to attend it gets pricey paying for several new outfits, but instead of buying one outfit for each event we love to buy separates that you can mix and match and Osh Kosh B’gosh kids has a great selection of coordinating pieces.

While shopping we saw adorable ponchos and super frilly dresses. Miss C ended up choosing some adorable print leggings and a romantic flowy top. She also picked out a glittery navy skirt to mix and match.

Another great way to save on the holiday clothing for your children is with an amazing Osh Kosh B’gosh coupon!!

The Children’s Place Online Order Cancellations

After needing to update our girls’ wardrobes we did some shopping at The Children’s Place earlier this month. During a special promotion we received Place Cash to spend on purchases at a later date.

Yesterday I took advantage of a quiet moment to order a few things we were still lacking, excited at the great prices and the fact that The Children’s Place carries size 16 in girl’s clothing. After using my rewards coupon and Place Cash I checked out.

This afternoon, however I received an email that my orders had been canceled, which seemed very weird to me. After about an hour on the phone (34 minutes on hold and the other on and off hold with a very polite customer representative), I was told someone had hacked Place Cash numbers and used them from purchases and as a preemptive strike The Children’s Place was cancelling all online orders using Place Cash.

I received an email with new coupon and rewards codes, I’m a little surprised they didn’t offer anything for the inconvenience of having to reorder and being on the phone for so long. Also, I’m a little apprehensive filling up the cart again and also hoping we don’t miss out on any styles/sizes that we were able to “purchase” yesterday. I understand these things happen and the rep at The Children’s Place has been very understanding.

If you are stuck in this same situation, and would still like to use your cash, hopefully you won’t be on hold for the same amount of time, but be sure to call 1-877-752-2387.

Daddies and Daughters

Growing up not having a father figure in my life I always wondered what it would be like to have a dad. I’m blessed to now have a relationship with my dad, but definitely missed out on all the fun things dads do with their little girls. Maybe that’s why I’ve been blessed with two beautiful little girls and a husband who adores them.

I love watching DaddyB with the girls, seeing how they talk and play and how he makes them feel special. In our house the girls have Daddy-Daughter adventures where they get to spend the day with DaddyB doing some fun things mixed in with errands, it’s quality time that they treasure.

Another annual event that all three of my favorite people love is the Daddy Daughter dance that our school hosts. I love seeing DaddyB and the girls dress up and enjoy hearing all about their night. Last week they were able to participate in this years’ dance.

{Aren’t they awesome!!!}

mommyb-daddy-daughter

They had a great time getting ready. US Angels sent the girls dresses and both of them felt like princesses. The quality of the dresses are outstanding. You can see the details in the stitching and feel it in the material.

As Lil’ C twirled around the room, {feeling like a princess}, she made sure to let us know her skirt had 6 layers.

mommyb-lil-c-us-angels

And Miss A, looked grown up in the best way possible. I couldn’t believe how beautiful she is and how she’s turning into a young lady.

If you’re looking for a dress for a special occasion, like formal dances, holiday pictures, fancy parties, weddings, or confirmations, I would highly recommend checking out US Angels, they have great selections for little ones all the way through teenagers. usangels.com

At the event DaddyB and a photographer took lots of pictures and I can’t wait to see them all once they’re posted. The best thing is how the girls won’t need pictures to remember these special moments with their daddy.

For those of you who have lost your fathers in one way or another, take heart. I pray that you will find someone who will fill that role for you, be able to witness it in your own home as you make your own family, or be able to help others who might be missing out.

I received free product from US Angels, my thoughts and opinions are my own.

Kids Fall Fashion Tips – See Kai Run Giveaway

This is a sponsored post/giveaway in partnership with Nakturnal

Fall is here and that means more than just pumpkin spice everything. It means it’s time to start switching your kiddo’s wardrobe to long sleeves and pants. This past weekend I started organizing the girls’ closets. Donating clothes that are too small for C and pulling out big sister’s hand-me-downs for Fall. Miss A’s closet is a different story, since she’s the oldest I realized we need to make some shopping trips in the very near future.

While Miss A doesn’t love to go shopping, she definitely has her very own style even at the ripe age of 9. Don’t you miss the younger ages when most of the time you could just choose what your child would wear without much input from them?? {I know some kids are born opinionated when it comes to clothes, but I “got away” with picking out clothes for a while with Miss A.}

Now that the time is upon us, I figured I would share some of our favorite tips for shopping for Fall clothes.

kids-fall-fashion-tips-mommyb

Head to consignment sales

Fall is a great time to head to the consignment sales, when you’re ready to swap out seasons. A lot of consignment stores and sales will have Fall items at a reduced rate. I’ve been noticing some great specials on some of my favorite consignment stores and at Kid-t0-Kid I can take the clothes that C has grown out of and use the store credit to buy new-to-us clothes for Miss A.

Take advantage of online sales

Online resources tend to have great deals right now and if you know your child’s size you’re bound to get what you need at a good price. Plus it’s easier for your child to choose the looks they like without having to head to the stores after school or even worse ….. on weekends!!! Plus aren’t these shoes adorable???

Consign online

If you’re not in love with my first two tips, maybe you can combine them and find consignment choices online. My blogger friend Brittany Dixon raves about ThredUp.com. She uses the service to buy used clothing for her sweet girls and seems to love it. PS, there are other companies who do this as well but I wanted to recommend a brand I’ve heard good things about.

Clothing swap

Sadly, we don’t have too many friends who hand us down for Miss A but C gets some adorable clothes from friends so her closet is always bursting with lots of options for Fall fashion. Some moms choose to host a clothing swap in their home, our school is also great about having uniform swaps, and we pack up boxes to give to our friends letting them know whatever their girls won’t wear they are free to donate or give to a friend.

Since sometimes updating your child’s Fall wardrobe can get a little pricey, I’m giving away a $50 giftcard to help you out.

Kohl’s presents Jumping Beans Disney Themed Spring Children’s Clothing Collection

Whether you’re headed to Disney in the next few months or your kids just love Mickey, Minnie, and their friends, you’ll love the new Jumping Beans Disney children’s clothing collection featured right now in Kohl’s stores and on Kohls.com.

We popped into our local Kohl’s on April 3rd, the day the first themed collection in this line was available for purchase. The girls loved the display and spotted some of their favorite Disney characters featured in signage.

Kohls Jumping Beans Disney Collection #magicatplay

I love the quality of clothes that Jumping Beans offers and this collection is no different. You can tell the fabric is quality, durable and breathable for busy kids-at-play. The prices of the collection are exactly what I would expect to pay and if you have extra discounts {think signing up for Kohl’s emails, Kohl’s card, etc} you can purchase these adorable outfits for well under what you would pay for a non-Disney line.

I can’t wait for them to wear their dresses when we are at Disneyland later this week!!!

Disney Jumping Bean Childrens Clothing Line Kohls #magicatplay

This line is available for kids of all ages, infant, toddler, big boys and big girls. I got each of my girls {ages 4 and 6.5} a dress in their own size. Without additional discounts I spent around $45 (we normally spend $15-$24 when we buy new dresses).

Luckily, we have a Kohl’s that we pass on a daily basis, but if you don’t their website offers the entire line as well. (While supplies last). Head to a Kohl’s near you or Kohls.com to pick up some adorable boys and girls outfits from their New Jumping Beans Disney Magic at Play collection, and keep your eyes peeled for more collections to come.

In the meantime, enter to win a $50 Kohl’s gift card so you can purchase some of this line or other great items featured in Kohl’s stores and at Kohls.com:

Building Confidence for Biracial Girls – Yay9! Review

This is a review and review samples were used in this review.

As my girls get older I want them to know how beautiful they are, because they are created in God’s image. Through books and talking with several biracial parents and biracial people themselves I know that often times biracial children have a hard time figuring out who they are. I know I am only a small piece in their puzzle to loving themselves, but as a mom teaching them self worth and confidence in who they are is one of the more important values I want them to own.

I’ve tried to learn tips and tricks for styling their hair and feel like I do a pretty good job with the resources I have. DaddyB and I tell them all the great things not only about their looks but about the people they are. We often have dates with each child on their own to connect and let them know how special they are. Of course we do also focus and celebrate their uniqueness.

When Miss A was about 3 I stumbled on this Sesame Street video:

i-love-my-hair-tee

I was so excited to show it to Miss A and also bought her this really cool shirt to go with it: {pictured on right}

And of course as Lil C grew up she got this as a hand-me-down and loves wearing it. We always ask the girls which one they are or is their favorite.

Another fun company that celebrates diversity and being who you are, was brought to me by another awesome blogger is Yay9!.

Yay9! is a company that wants to be an experience for little girls who celebrate their own style. The characters Joyce, LuLu and Violet represent each one of the company founders’ girls and their unique personalities. Not only that, but they are also celebrating diversity and encouraging my girls to love their hair, skin color, and their style.

Addye Durant, the creator of Yay9!, has a vision to make Joyce, LuLu and Violet part of a movement and with our support, expand their projects and brand.

I love reading the about pages for businesses and that is no different for  Yay9!. You can tell from the get-go that they are a fun company and this transfers to their products as well. I love that the brand is great for little girls, tweens, and teens too.

We had the opportunity to check out a couple of their tees and I thought the packaging of the shirts was very creative. They were wrapped like candy and included really cool and large hair bobble hair ties. These shirts do run very small so I suggest ordering big since they do have some shrinkage too. The girls LOVED the designs can you tell?!?!

How do you teach your children confidence?

Be sure to head Yay9!’s website to read more, shop, and check out the Joyce, Violet, and Lulu in action.

I also encourage you to visit their Indiegogo page and if you like their vision, make your contribution, and get your perk.

We received review samples of Yay9! products in order to give honest opinions. Review samples are placed into consideration and are only posted if it is something we believe is important to share about. We like Yay9! however we understand your opinions may vary. Thank you for being considerate and having an open mind while reading this post.

be you be true Products – Cute and Inspiring {Giveaway}

I am a huge proponent of buying things with more than one use, or something that has meaning behind it, something that can be more. In my world the little things mean a lot especially as I’m trying to raise my two beautiful, little girls. I not only want them to know how loved they are, but also how to treat others and that they are ultimately in control of their lives and choices. I know, it may seem a little much for kids to learn, but really, aren’t we preparing them to be awesome adults??

While I don’t want my girls to grow up too quickly, I do want them to learn responsibility, empathy, passion, and be inspired by things and people around them. One of the reasons I was so excited to be a part of sharing the word about be you be true products is that their mission is to inspire and encourage kids {and adults too.}

Each of their messages on their clothing, accessories, paper/vinyl products, and home goods come with a message in mind. There are several different sayings and characters to choose from, different genders, and a wide variety of sizes too.

Not only is be you be true offering up some awesome inspiration through their products, but they are also committed to giving back to the community. Their goal, for 2013 is to donate $10,000 that will go towards sponsoring healthy and happy opportunities for children. Again, a message within a purpose within a cause.

As for the items themselves, we love the be you be true signature. It’s simple and works great for our multicultural family, {although more curly-haired options would not be turned down in this house!!} As for the fit, the children’s t-shirts are long and slender in my opinion, so keep that in mind when ordering. Lil’ C is in the 75th percentile for height and weight and the size 4-5 is a close fit for her. Miss A is wearing the 7-8 and it’s a good fit I think.

Miss A chose “Be a Princess” and Lil’ C chose “Be Graceful” can you tell they love being girly?!?

beyoubetrue girls shirts MommyB

The items we received were great quality, the t-shirts were durable and thick fabric, and one really cool thing I learned is that be you be true, in an effort to make the most of their materials and not waste, uses t-shirts that are less than perfect and upcycles them into cute totes!!!

Here are some pictures of these awesome products, and my girls enjoying their time in the sun and their super girly, awesome shirts.

Oh My, it’s Carter’s Oh So BIG sale! {CLOSED}

CAR_40x18_ohsobig_ceiling3_sale

Carters Oh So Big Kids SaleThis past weekend I dove into my girls closets and turned into the Tasmanian Devil, no not the one on the nature shows, the one from the cartoons. {Insert mental image here, since I do not have rights to this image.} And if you’re not sure who the Looney Toon’s version of the Tasmanian Devil is; Google, baby.

So picture me getting rid of all of the heavy knits, and thick fleece and being left with a rack of empty hangers minus the one or two dresses and t-shirts that can work for the beautiful spring weather we’ve been having. While Little C ,{yes I did just upgrade her from Baby C, remember this moment in time!} has a few hand-me-downs from Miss A, they’re not quite the same size at the same age, and well, Miss A she has some size 10’s from grandparents finding good deals, but won’t be fitting in those for years.

From the time my girls were itty bitty, we have been gifted or purchased clothes we LOVE at Carter’s children’s clothing stores. Not only do I really like the awesome quality of their clothing, {great for passing down to siblings/family members} but they also have really cute styles to offer. Unlike a lot of children’s stores these days, I appreciate the fact that Carter’s clothes are AGE appropriate, yes people a 4 year old can dress their age, no excuses. Not to mention that Carter’s always offers great coupons and discounts, and I love saving a buck when I can. Speaking of which… their, “Oh So Big Sale” is going on as I type this blog post!

From now through April 24th Carter’s adorable kids gear is up to 60% off online and in-stores. Whether you’re looking for baby girl or baby boy sets for all those baby showers you’ll be attending this spring and summer, little girls tunics and leggings to mix and match for pretty, colorful outfits, or adorable nightgowns {plus more} or something for the boys, Carter’s has some great deals on denim and cute t-shirts too!

Here are a three of my favorites from this awesome Carter’s sale:

Carters Oh So Big Sale Girls Dress

I am a sucker for dresses, thank God for giving me two girls {who also adore them}! I really like this one because it’s pink, frilly, and great for spring AND summer. If white’s not your color Carter’s also has some other adorable dresses in their toddler and big girls sections.

Carters Oh So Big Sale Boy Shirt

Here’s one of my favorite boys t-shirts, not only is it a bright, fun color, perfect for spring, but it’s a cute design without being scary (skulls) or having cartoon characters on it.

I hear from so many moms that most boys clothing only has sports balls on them and you can only have so many of those before you want to pull your hair out {general, not direct quote}. Plus it’s mom-centric, love it!!

Carters Oh So Big Sale Pajamas

Last, but not least, I had to include pajamas. We in the B household are known to have a pajama party or five each month. I also love monkeys, these girl monkeys are so sweet with their bows and bananas. Don’t you agree?

I also love that Carter’s thought about spring weather when they created this set. I know here in Charlotte the weather has been cold one day and hot the next, so we’ve been mixing up pajama sets to facilitate the temperature of our house, it works, it’s not as cute as this set though.

For more information on the Oh So Big Sale, check out Carter’s online: Carters.com website

Birthday Bash – Boogie Boutique

Are you ready to boogie? How about a, “Birthday Boogie”? If so then you’ll need a cute Boogie Boutique outfit to commence. Baby C is beyond ready:

Baby C in Boogie Boutique

First off, you have to love the name, Boogie Boutique. Secondly, once you see their line up of uber-cute, frilly, girls clothes and adorable boys wear you’ll have a hard time picking your favorites.

In keeping with the cute, “Look Whoo’s One” owl theme I challenged {and I say challenged as more of a request than a demand}, Boogie Boutique to create a specific look for the onesie, and to my surprise it wasn’t quite what I asked for…..it was much much cuter. They added their own little signature through pink sequins on the owl and coordinated the bow with our Neapolitan colors. I fell in love as soon as I saw it wrapped so sweetly in the package it arrived in.

This three piece set started off with the adorable onesie (you can opt for a t-shirt instead), personalized bloomers with matching bows, and sassy, matching tutu, which Baby C LOVED! Boogie Boutique also has a great selection of hair clips, bibs, burp cloths, embroidered banners, and so much more and not everything has to be matchy-matchy if you want to mix it up a little.

Not only was everything beautifully made, but all of the pink cupcake frosting washed out so Baby C was able to wear it for her 1 year photo shoot, {which you’ll see is coming in a Birthday Bash post soon} and she can wear it until she outgrows it, after all she’ll be one for a year! I encourage you to check out Boogie Boutique’s shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/boogieboutique and look for your child’s next holiday gear.

The End!

Baby C Boogie Boutique Bloomer
