caseable Phone Cases { Guest Review }

I constantly find myself changing my phone due to the nature of the case. I switch between the case with the best phone protection to the case that looks great.

Are you a cell phone case flip-flopper too?

Those who know me know I am not one for bulky cases. I often opt for slimmer cases because even though bulky cases are great for protection, they are thick and heavy which I find to be an inconvenience. {Not to mention they hurt my hands.}

Despite the reasons I don’t like thick cases, I still find myself not fully content with slimmer cases. While the look of the case is important, there is one common problem with slim cases: protection. If you drop your phone, you want it to be safe from shattering. I’ve dropped my phone because often times slim cases are very slick, to the point where a “death grip” is needed in order to prevent yourself from dropping it. It has been difficult finding a case that meets all the criteria, since one set of pros and cons are often sacrificed for another.

caseable cases have proven me wrong in thinking a case with all these characteristics does not exist.

The look of their cases are unique and will appeal to anyone who is looking to buy one. Because of the vast selection, it took me quite a while to narrow my picks down to just two. I found many that I liked and want to buy. Unfortunately, the website did not have a search bar which made it hard to find a specific kind of case. {Hopefully they will add a search option to make shopping on their site easier.}

Protection in slim cases normally fails to protect the entire phone. caseable cases have a unique texture, unlike any cases I have used. They are soft, but provide just enough traction to have a good grip on your phone without being worried it will slip out of your hand.

Usually the case will cover the left and right sides of the phone, but fall short on the top and bottom of the phone. This case covers more of the bottom and top by curving around it, providing additional protection if dropped. The case doesn’t cover the entire top and bottom of the phone, which some people might not like. I personally think it is better that it doesn’t because it’s easier to remove the case.

Another thing, {that my friend brought to my attention} is that the difference in weight of the phone with and without the case is not noticeable. When I pick up my phone I don’t notice right away, but feel comforted when I realize the case is on my phone.

By buying a caseable case not only are you protecting your phone, but the environment as well. These cases are made out of recycled water bottles, which is a plus in the purchase of one of these cases. While the price is a bit on the higher end, I think the price suits what the case provides. A five-dollar case on Amazon would not come close to the needs I have in a case for my phone as a college student and soon-to-be-teacher.

I would recommend a caseable case if you are looking for a case that will both look great, and give you the protection you are looking for.

Tech Review: i Covers and Cases

Sometimes when you acquire new technology you forget all the additional accessories that go along with the new devices.  Coming from personal experience {aka a cracked phone}, it’s important to make sure your devices are protected and have the right accessories. I had the opportunity to review a couple of new i-accessories and wanted to give you my thoughts so you can make the best purchasing choice whether you go with the brands listed, or the reviews give you some helpful tips on buying your next device accessory.

[I like:]

  • Fit my iPad perfectly
  • Has the appropriate spots for cameras etc.
  • Comes in PINK and BLACK
  • Has a hard cover for protection
  • Can attach with velcro straps for portability
  • Decent price

[/checklist]

[Not so much:]

  • This version has a velcro stand that sticks to everything (including my clothes when carrying it)
  • No screen protector
  • Only comes in two colors currently

[/badlist]

ZooGue iPad Case Review MommyB

Overall thoughts:

I think I would have chosen the Zoogue Prodigy iPad case over this one because the velcro is very annoying, but I do love that the case allows for several angles (which is great for glare and different user heights).

From NueVue – Leather iPhone Case $56.99

neuvue_iphone_1

[I like:]

  • That it rids my phone of germs {phones are so germy!}
  • It’s available in leather, canvas, and cotton twill and several colors
  • The sleek and clean look of the case

[/checklist]

[Not so much:]

  • These types of case covers don’t offer protection for phones and other devices
  • Cannot use the phone while it’s in the case
  • If using for only cleaning purposes you still need to remove your hardcase before cleaning

[/badlist]

NewVu iPhone Case review MommyB

Overall thoughts:

I LOVE the concept of a clean phone {bacteria-free especially} however I need my phone to be protected especially being a busy mom. If they can somehow combine cleaning with hardcase phones I’m all in. In the meantime I will continue to use my NueVue case to clean my phone on occasion.

Hands-Free Gift – Great for Mom

I am a proud brand ambassador for Jabra brand products.

When I was younger I would talk on the phone for hours, and now that I’m a mom, I have select hours when I make phone calls and typically they’re pretty brief. When I am on the phone it’s usually when my girls are asleep or occupied, that way they have my attention when I’m not on the phone and the person on the other line has my attention when I’m on the phone. {Although that’s not the case 100% of the time, it’s the norm.}

Jabra STYLE Review MommyBKnowsBest.jpg

My favorite times to talk on the phone are rest time {when Lil’ C is resting, let’s not get carried away folks, I don’t remember the last time I took a nap mid-week}, when I am driving, and when I am washing dishes, but let’s face it, it’s not always safe or comfortable to hold my phone with my neck or multi-task while chatting on the phone. A couple of the many reasons I love Jabra’s STYLE bluetooth headset

Aside from saving me the crick in my neck, making sure my phone doesn’t drop into dishwater, giving me increased safety on the road, and allowing me to multitask like a BOSS, I have a few other reasons I’m recommending the Jabra STYLE headset as a great gift for mom.

In most cases, I’ve often felt that bluetooth headsets are a little bulky and seriously, pretty manly. Now I’m not looking for a diamond encrusted pink headset, but I also don’t want to feel like I’m working the drive-thru when I just want to make a simple call. Jabra has got it figured out with their fashionable, sleek hands-free headset design. Even the ear hook is clear!

Not only does it look good, but the functionality is on par as well. I made a few calls while going about my daily task and the recipients of my calls gave a thumbs up to the quality of sound they were experiencing. Of course it is a bluetooth however so I would recommend being mindful of your background noise {aka screaming children, clanking dishes} because that can sometimes be picked up by any device like the Jabra STYLE.

But seriously, check it out!!

  • Multimedia streaming – GPS , music and podcastsStylish brushed steel design with few buttons for easier user experience
  • NFC technology for easy pairing with your NFC enabled devices
  • Clear wireless streaming of your favorite multimedia – GPS, music & podcasts (A2DP enabled devices)
  • HD voice* for better sound experience
  • Voice guidance, voice dialing, automatic volume control, multiuse™
  • Up to 6 hours talk time and up to 7 days standby time

The Jabra STYLE retails for $49.99 and comes with the following:  1 Jabra STYLE headset, 1 extra eargel, 1 AC charger, & a handy-dandy quick start guide {although it’s really easy to use}.  You can hint to those who are buying your gifts to pick them up at Verizon or TMobile.

New LeapFrog Product – Creativity Camera Protective Case & App

This post brought to you by MomSelect and LeapFrog.

Are your little ones begging to play on your phone? My girls are always asking to play games AND take pictures, and with LeapFrog’s Creativity Camera Protective Case & App I am able to turn my iPhone® and our iPod touch® into the ultimate kid-friendly camera and creativity center.

This case is designed for little ones ages 3-6 years and works with  iPhone® and iPod touch® encouraging children to have fun, get creative and learn all at the same time!

The first thing I noticed is that the camera case protects my devices from accidents and rough play. It’s easy to see that the protective case locks in the iPhone® or iPod touch® in securely, without damaging the device. It’s difficult enough to deter little hands from unlocking, but not too complicated for moms and dads, thankfully!!

After checking out outside function of the camera protective case we downloaded the free creativity learning app. It was very easy to add to my device after scanning the QR code inside the camera case. Once that was fully loaded, Lil’ C was ready to start taking pictures and exploring.

She loved taking pictures of everything around the house and being able to have a good grip on the device. Once she took her pictures, she was able to have some fun adding stickers, distorting images, and of course coloring on her pictures in the app too. She also really loved the augmented reality game with the colorful “bugs” (minus the grey bat-like creature because of his spooky voice). Look at that happy face!

PicMonkey CollageLeapFrog Creativity Camera Protective Case & App

I love that the LeapFrog Creativity Camera Protective Case & App is durable, affordable (retails for $19.99 and includes the app with purchase of the toy), and has multiple games/functions on the app along with taking pictures.

Luckily for my girls my old iPhone®  broke and we have a few iPod touch®’s around the house so I never need to take my phone out of the case to make a call or check email, they’re always ready to play.

We are huge fans of LeapFrog’s toys because they are geared towards learning and creativity, two of many things we want for our girls as they grow. I would highly recommend the LeapFrog Creativity Camera Protective Case & App for a gift perfect for any child ages 3-6, in fact we may pick some up for birthday and Christmas gifts because I know our friends and family will love this toy.

What is your child’s favorite photography subject? Which LeapFrog toy(s) will you be buying next?

What’s App-enning?? App Series: Appy Mother’s Day

Hey hey, what’s App-enning? Appy early Mother’s Day! Today I’m highlighting a great, FREE, app for mom just in time for Mother’s Day, and also snuck in some fun and educational apps for the kiddos that ultimately helps mom out too, {think grocery store, doctor’s office, road trip…}

MommyB What's App-enning Series

As moms {and parents in general} we’re always recording videos of our kiddos. If you’re like me and you have an iPhone you may whip that thing out everytime your kiddo does something cute, which around these parts is pretty often! The conundrum….my files are ALWAYS way to big to go anywhere other than straight to my laptop. I can’t send them to grandmom via text or hubby through email and by the time I do upload them to my computer I pretty much forget who I wanted to send them to in the first place. {I can claim mommy brain even though Lil’ C is 3 right?!?}

Enter: Joya, a Godsend iPhone app that lets you send videos regardless of their size to any recipient with text or email abilities.  Yep, you heard me right, they don’t need an iPhone or the app themselves, although if they have one they may also want to download it.  plus another great feature is that the recipient of your videos doesn’t have to worry about having space to download or store the videos because Joya creates a URL for easy viewing. Another reason this app rocks is the fact that it’s so discrete, keeping your videos private.

Joya App

For more on Joya visit getjoya.com and download it to your iPhone for free!

Now for the kiddos:

If you are a regular appster you may have some of the Disney themed apps, but have you see Disney Junior Appisodes yet?? These cool apps allow your child to not only watch a Disney Junior show, but it allows them to become a part of the episode. Children interact with the app by saying key phrases and words, shaking the device, and clicking on the screen.

The directions given by Disney Junior characters are easy for little ones and exciting for the bigger ones. We love the fact that we can not only watch our favorite shows like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Jake and the Neverland Pirates, but that we can almost jump into their world through these apps.

Lil’ C especially likes to play these apps over and over again.

Alien Buddies is great app little ones preschool through Kindergarten age. This app created by ArtGig Apps allow children to play matching games, dot-to-dots, puzzles, and play with stickers they earn. Each game has different levels based on your child’s skills. The game is easy enough for Lil’ C {age 3} and still fun for our advanced Miss A {almost 6 years}. Lil’ C loves it and is progressing through the levels, definitely one of our favorites.

Alien Buddies App

 Head to their website to get more info and also check out the extra alien goodies: alien-buddies.com and check out ArtGig App’s other iPad, iPhone, and iPod learning apps for children of all ages.

Thanks to Disney Junior and Artgig Apps for providing me with access to the apps to share with my children and get their input for this review.

Custom Phone and Tablet Cases by CVS/pharmacy – Discount

CVS Phone Cases

Happy Thursday everyone!! I can’t believe this week is almost over, but before it is, I wanted to write you about CVS/pharmacy’s new custom phone and tablet cases, for two reasons.

1. Because I got a sample and it’s so cool I had to share

2. There’s a discount going on right now, but only for a few more days!

Being one of a million Jennifer’s when I get the chance to personalize things I do. From gifts to other people, my girls room decor, clothing, and almost anything I can “snazz-up”. This holds true for my websites too. I love to market my sites when I can because I’m proud of all the work I’ve done and blessed to be where I am in my career. So, even though it was hard for me to choose between featuring pics of my girls or customize for work, I chose to feature my websites. (** After seeing the results though, I think I may ask for one with my kiddos on it for my birthday, hint hint.)

CVS/pharmacy’s photo lab offers customizing for several different brands including, iPhone, iPad, Kindle, Blackberry, Samsung, and the list goes on.

CVS Phone Cases

Choosing images for this project was the most difficult part of the process, the rest was made super easy with a user friendly, step-by-step online program.

CVS 3 Steps

CVS/pharmacy made it easy for me to choose from different photo layouts, for my iPhone 4 I could choose 1, 2, or 3 photos and also for my specific model I was able to choose between a few different case styles. I love that I could choose the placement of my images, and easily move my uploaded images around.

CVS Case Customize

I chose the iPhone Vibe case since it seemed like the more durable choice. CVS/pharmacy ships your case at no additional cost to the CVS location of your choice, making it easy to pick up during your other CVS/pharmacy related errands. I love the smooth finish, and the quality of the photos on my phone case turned out great. The case fits my phone very well and definitely seems like it will hold up to being shuffled around in my diaper bag. I am very pleased with the results and think this would make a great, personalized gift as well.

Here’s mine (ignore the iPhone flash glare):

MommyBKnowsBest Personalize Phone Case

Cases range in price starting at $34.99, and like I mentioned at the beginning of the post, CVS/pharmacy has a great deal on their website for 25% off. Head over to http://www.cvsphoto.com/phone-and-tablet-cases , add your customized phone or tablet case(s) to your shopping cart and upon check out enter the discount code: CASE25 Please note that this promotion ends 9/8/12 so you only have a couple of days to take advantage of this deal.

One big tip for creating your case would be to make sure you use high res images, the better the quality of the original pictures, the better the quality of your case.

My only wish is that someone would create an even more durable personalized phone case, maybe something made of armor, I’m so nervous my phone will get damaged.

What images would you use for your personalized case?

I received a complimentary phone case from CVS/pharmacy in order to test out the product and give you my honest opinions about the product. Besides, how else can I tell you about it if I don’t experience it myself? Your opinions may vary unless you design your phone exactly like mine to advertise my sites. {Just kidding!!!}

Verizon iPhone for Mom and Dad

Verizon iPhone On January 3rd, I talked a little about the iPhone coming to Verizon in this post: http://www.mommybknowsbest.com/new-to-2011/. Now that AT&T’s exclusive contract with Apple’s iPhone is up, guess what……the iPhone will be for sale with Verizon as soon as February 10, 2011. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, good planning Verizon!

The iPhone will be the newest version, the 4G, I currently have the iPod verison, (sans phone capability) I really wish that the iPod had the option to just turn on phone capabilities, but I understand that would boost the cost as well. With a 2 year plan and data pak (required) Verizon is offering the iPhone for $199.99 plus tax. If you are currently a Verizon customer you can reserve your iPhone before they are available to the public using this link: http://ecrm.vzwshop.com/2011_ECRM/consumer/2011_Program_CES/1101_device/?LANGCODE=EN

Personally being a parent I love my iPod because it has so many applications that Miss A can learn from and have fun with too, there are apps to teach her how to draw letters, sound out words, perform match equations and more, plus she’s learning hand-eye-coordination as well as how to use modern technology. I keep her play limited because if I didn’t she’d be on it all day long.

Angry BirdsFor me there are great apps that allow me to create schedules, reminders of important dates we have, check my email from anywhere and even some great recipe apps too, not to mention a few minutes of Angry Birds to give me a little “zone out time” you know what I’m talking about!

I do wish the iPhone was a little cheaper because it would be nice not to have to carry both my iPod and my phone with me, but maybe in time.

What do you think about Verizon getting the iPhone?? Are you excited? Could care less? Would you buy one?
