Tiny Prints Holiday Party

With the holidays upon us there are so many different parties to attend. On my schedule we’ve had a Halloween play date, a couples Halloween party, a Jake and the Neverland Pirates birthday party, and coming up we have a Thanksgiving Feast, Holiday Cookie exchanges, and other parties I’ve either been invited to or hosted myself for work, not to mention my own birthday party in December and parties that haven’t even been planned yet.

Last weekend, on behalf of one of my most favorite companies, Tiny Prints, I hosted a blogger holiday party and with a few tips I used it was a success.

Invite the Right People for the Right Event – If you are having a play date don’t invite people who don’t like children, pretty obvious right? However I’ve seen interesting mixes at parties because often times people don’t want to leave anyone out, but by being selective, {at times}, it can pay off. I invited some amazing bloggers including {in alphabetical order, so as not to show favoritism *LOL*} Faith, Jamie, Jessica, Kelley, Lisa, Maricris, and Susan.

Find a unique place or theme for the party – Sometimes when you are in a smaller city it’s hard to find new venues to host events at, and even if you choose to host events in your home, one key tip is to get creative. Thinking outside the box when it comes to venues and themes are what can make or break a party. Choose locations you wouldn’t normally think of but work out logistically and look on places like pinterest {which I have vowed to stay away from,} for ideas. I chose Fran’s Filling Station because the menu selection sounded different, and it wasn’t a chain and I’m so glad I chose it because the food and staff were amazing, and I’m dying to go back for round 2.

Find some entertainment or a purpose – While sometimes it’s nice to just get together with friends, when there is a purpose or something fun scheduled for a party people get even more excited to attend. At the Tiny Prints event, Chris Garner, local photographer and owner of TPS Photography, spoke about tips for photography which will not only come in handy for our blogs, but also for our own photos during the holidays. Whatever your purpose or entertainment make it a good fit for your attendees.

Make sure the guests leave with something in hand – aka Goodies. We all love them, let’s face it, when you leave a party with a goodie bag you get a little excited. Recently, I went to a Mom’s Night In, where we made pies and the hostess made pie pops {like these from Bakerella} and although my girls didn’t get to go to the Mom’s Night In {for obvious reasons}, they were able to enjoy the goodies. And I must say for this Tiny Prints event the goodies were pretty awesome!

I am a little biased anyway because I love Tiny Prints. Not only do I really love their designs, but there are some celebs designing their products now {which is not HUGE for me but an added bonus for sure,} but most of all because of their AMAZING customer service. And yes, I have to say “AMAZING” in caps and here’s why: last year I was creating my Christmas and New Year’s combination card with them, you know Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, well my mush brain got the best of me and I wrote Happy 2010, but didn’t notice and submitted for printing. Tiny Prints customer service not only called me and left really nice voice messages, but they also emailed a couple of times to ask me if I really wanted 2010 or actually wanted 2011. Phew, crisis averted all because the staff at Tiny Prints caught my mistake. Honestly that catch is a constant reminder of a successful customer service experience and that’s the biggest reason why I continue to use Tiny Prints for my printing needs.

Because there are so many different parties to attend this holiday season it’s difficult to make sure yours is unique, but with my tips above, some creativity, and the right tools your party is sure to be a success.

In case you have never heard of Scentsy here’s a brief run-down: Scentsy was born from a desire to make a wickless, flameless alternative to candles and grew into one of many direct selling companies. Scentsy is now in it’s 6th year of business, and has won several awards for both ethics and growth in their field. Scentsy has approximately 100,000 consultants around North America, Puerto Rico, and Guam.

I met with Scentsy consultant, Tracey Rominger who told me a little bit about her experiences with Scentsy and why she got involved.

How did you first hear about Scentsy?

I first about Scentsy from a friend of my sisters about a year ago. I finally bought my first warmer from her and some scents last December. I agreed to host a party for her in May 2010. I then thought-I can do be a consultant, I can do this. I need extra income since I am a stay at home mom and I have alittle time to spare. So we turned that party in my first party as a consultant. My launch party was a success and I had my friends hooked! So I have been selling since then.

What is your favorite thing about Scentsy?

I never thought of selling anything, nothing ever interested me enough until Scentsy. I love the unique idea and that not many people have heard of this company. It is only 6 years old and they just signed on their 100,000 consultant a few months ago. They only have around 1100 consultants in NC, so that was a huge pro for me.

What is your all-time, favorite Scentsy scent?

My favorite scent is Sunkissed Citrus.

What is the BEST thing about selling Scentsy?

It sells itself. This is a unique idea and not many people have this type of thing in there house. These also make great gifts!

With Father’s Day just around the corner, I’ve been looking for some gift alternatives to the usual suspects…you know, the tie, cuff links, macaroni anything. Past years we’ve gotten Daddy B, a trip to a theme park, (in case you don’t know he’s a roller coaster superstar see thecoastercritic.com), a hand-painted shirt with Miss A’s handprints, handmade cards, and sort of a Wii

Nonetheless, we try to make each year special with at least one homemade element, and this year will not be any different. I did however find these amazing shirts that I just fell in love with. They’re like a Father’s Day card for years that daddy can wear all around to show his fatherly pride.

If you’re in my shoes Thanks Dad has some great inspired apparel for the Dad you’re celebrating.They have a current line of 4 Thanks Dad T-shirts to choose from with several different sizes and colors. I chose one that was appropriate for our family that I just loved and that was the Bike Tee. This t-shirt shows a father teaching his daughter how to ride a bike. Miss A got a bicycle for Christmas and Daddy B has been outside regularly teaching her how to pedal and steer, so I thought this one would be special. You can also choose from the Beach Tee, Ski Tee, and Fishing Tee.

Now I’m not quite sure why they sell both Youth and Adult sizes, maybe so the kid can match Daddy? That would be a cute idea. Anyway, here are some things I love about the shirt…it’s great quality and I love how different it is from other daddy shirts. I do wish they had shirts with multiple children and more than 4 choices, since I think the designs are great. Thanks Dad is however hoping to expand their inventory and include branded baseball caps, mugs, and other great products.
