Backyard Safari Outfitters Review

Backyard Safari OutfittersWhen I told one of my blogger friends that I was reviewing Backyard Safari Outfitters products she said, “Why? You don’t have boys do you?”

This is the exact reason I need to review products like these. I want to show the world that girls like adventure and camping just as much as the boys do. In fact, I think my girls loved these toys even more than some boys might.

The girls had so much fun playing in the Backyard Safari Outfitters Expidition Three Base Camp Shelter, giggling, and rolling all around. Much to my amazement this open shelter was much larger than I originally anticipated. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to “pitch” it in our living room, until I realized just how big the shelter actually was. We have a pretty small house so personally it worked much better outside and gave us more space, plus the outdoorsy feel was much more fun anyway.

Backyard Safari Outfitters Cargo VestMy other favorite touches of the Backyard Sarari Outfitters line are that they come with a great Essential Field Gear Cargo Vest {which is only 19.99 and the construction is top-notch} and your child can earn patches to place directly on the vest. The vest lets your child store so many items, including your pop-up field guide, a flash light and so much more that way they can have their hands free to explore. It fits Miss A who is now 4 years old just right and there’s lots of room to grow.

I also love the Backyard Safari Lazer Light Bug Vacuum. {Also featured in the June 2011 issue of Parents magazine “The Summer’s Hottest Toys” section!} Not only can you “suck” up the bugs, but you can also light them up and take an upclose look with the built-in magnifying glass. Miss A is deatlhy afraid of bugs, but loved using the vacuum to “get rid of them” and “shoe them away”. It was also a nice way for her to examine the bugs without being too scared that they would touch her.

Overall, we really like Backyard Safari Outfitters products, they are great a great value. You get quality toys and products for affordable prices. As I mentioned earlier the toys are great for boys or girls and are GREAT for the summer and playing in your own backyard or the wild outdoors.

Get your Bakcyard Safari Outfitters gear on their website: http://www.summittoy.com/ or find them at Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com, and Target. Be sure to fan them on Facebook too: http://www.facebook.com/BackyardSafari

What’s your favorite outdoor activity for the summer?

Does your child LOVE or HATE bugs?

As a member of Team Mom I received Backyard Safari Outfitters products in order to complete this review. My opinions are in no way influenced by Team Mom or the products I received. My opinions are my own, however yours may vary.

Blue Bunny Giveaway: Chef Duff Goldman Ice Cream {CLOSED}

Blue Bunny LogoSummer is here and one of the biggest perks to summer {in my opinion} are delicious bowls full of ice cream. Whether you’re having a sundae party, grabbing your favorite flavors at a theme park, or just enjoying a scoop with your kids after a fun day of play Blue Bunny’s ice cream treats will hit the spot.

It seems like every weekend we have another children’s birthday party to attend and I grew up having ice cream and cake at each party I attended. Just like peanut butter and jelly, they went together, and now they’re being reunited to create amazing combinations. But it’s not just any cake and ice cream blend. Two of the industry’s leading producers of ice cream and cake are going to blow you away.

Chef Duff Goldman from the Food Network’s Ace of Cakes and Blue Bunny, the largest family-owned and operated ice cream manufacturer in the United States, have created 4 amazing flavor sensations for you and your family to enjoy this summer.

Okay, are you ready? The four Blue Bunny premium flavors are:

Blue Bunny Chef Duff Goldman Ice Cream

Red Carpet Red Velvet Cake – Red velvet cake flavored ice cream swirled with cream cheese frosting flavored ice cream and red velvet cake pieces.

Chocolate Lovers Triple Chocolate Cake – Decadent chocolate ice cream served up with fudgy chocolate cake pieces and dressed in ribbons of thick, chocolate frosting.

What Happened to The Fresh Beat’s Marina?

Nick Jr.'s The Fresh Beat Band

Nick Jr.'s The Fresh Beat BandMiss A loves The Fresh Beat Band on Nick Jr. and secretly so does Daddy B. {Shhh don’t tell him I told you.} Nick Jr. first shared this fun show with American families in August of 2009. Since then, the musical fun that Kiki, Twist, Shout and Marina bring have taught and continue to teach valuable lessons to preschool viewers, like getting along, not giving up, and solving problems as a team.

The Fresh Beat Band, was originally planned to be called, “The JumpArounds,” however before the show officially aired the name was changed. Following suit, in this past season, season two, some of The Junior Beats {the mini Fresh Beat kids} and the actor who played Reed, the owner of the Good Note Music Store were replaced. Is it me or does it seem like Nick Jr. is mixing things up with The Fresh Beat Band from season to season? Now that the third season of Fresh Beat band is upon us, things are no different.

Tara Perry The Fresh Beat Band MarinaRecent clips for the show’s next “new” season have sprung up on Nick Jr. touting lots of new things for the show, while also showing off a new cast member, Tara Perry. Perry will take on the role of Marina, who was originally played by Shayna Rose.

Allegidly, Shayna Rose is getting married and perusing other career options that are taking her away from The Fresh Beat Band. I know Miss A and maybe Daddy B too, will miss her dearly.

What do we know about the “new” Marina, Tara Perry though? Perry, age 25, has directed and stared in quite a few youtube videos, and had a tv appearance here and there, but her “claim to fame” is that she is The Movie Maven on Sci-Fi’s Mania.com. For more on Perry, check out her IMDB page she doesn’t have a wikipedia page yet, but now that she’s on Nick Jr. I assume that will be coming soon.

Although the “new” Marina still has red hair {noticeably darker}, and a turquoise and purple outfit, you can’t pull one over my kiddo. I’m not sure if it’s an effort to help Marina blend in or some new duds for season three, but all four of the Fresh Beats have new outfits, and on a side note hubby thinks that Shout has gained some muscle {that’s debatable, I think it was just covered by the collegiate sweater}.

While I’m not a huge fan of change, especially when it comes to television characters, she is a fellow Sagittarius so maybe I’ll cut her a little slack. Honestly though, I’m not really sure how a different Marina will affect the show, personally, I don’t think that it will, especially when it comes to the kids. I think they’ll be confused for a minute, get over it, and be dancing all over the room like with any other episode.

For NEW Season 3 Fresh Beat Band Episode Synopsis and to weigh in with your thoughts, check out http://www.mommybknowsbest.com/fresh-beat-band-season-3-episodes/.

I’d love to hear your opinions on the topic. What are your thoughts on the new Marina? Do you like the changes that are coming to Nick Jr.’s Fresh Beat Band? Is your child {or someone else in your household} excited for season three?

Who is your favorite Marina?

Birthday Bash – Carolina Cakeball Rainbow Pops

In case you haven’t heard about cake pops in general, or especially Carolina Cakeball’s (I featured them in THIS post), cake pops you are really missing out. Cake pops are made from cake scraps, frosting, and a yummy candy coating, and though it may sound simple these treats are by far one of my favorite sweets these days.

Carolina Cakeball Company makes fresh cake pops that are moist and delicious and perfect for any occasion! I just found out they also ship their amazing products, so even though they are located near Charlotte you can get your very own Carolina Cakeball treats shipped right to your door (extra charge for shipping during the sweltering summer weather). Contact them on their Facebook page for pricing and more details: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Carolina-Cakeball-Co/138771136167390

They’re also great about customizing to your event needs, I can’t speak highly enough about them as a company, and on that note, this is the correct way to eat a Carolina Cakeball Company cake pop:

What’s in the Pipeline for MommyB Knows Best?

I’m sure you’re all dying to hear what I have coming up on MommyBKnowsBest.com so why don’t I just tell you.

Of course I’m always working on creating great content for you all, whether it’s reviews, giveaways or silly pieces of me, which include my video blog posts, which I need to do for sure this week. Things with Baby C’s birthday party got a little crazy and I reminded myself that I should probably throw parties outside the home, especially if it’s more than just a handful of people, but we did have a WONDERFUL time celebrating her first year and she loved her cupcake {mostly the frosting} just like momma!!

MommyB's Birthday Bash

With two girls celebrating their birthdays and tons more children we know getting ready for their own days I decided that it would be fun to work on a birthday project and call it MommyB’s Birthday Bash. I’ve already been working with a lot of amazing companies and am amazed at the work they’ve done and can’t wait to share them with you. That is coming up the entire month of May, so prepare yourself to check back often for birthday fun on the site.

Also in the works are two, yes two great conferences I’ll be attending this year. I have chosen to opt out of a few others that sound great and focus in on Reviewers Retreat and Type-A Parent Conference.

Obviously I write reviews and host giveaways, so I thought that Reviewers Retreat would be a good opportunity for me to learn a few things regarding reviews, and meet up with some other great bloggers and hopefully make some connections as well. Not to mention that Reviewers Retreat will be at the Great Wolf Lodge in Poconos, PA. I thought since it’s right before Little Miss A’s birthday that we could make it a family get away and enjoy some time there in the water and enjoying what Great Wolf Lodge has to offer for families as well.

Type-A Parent ConferenceAs for the Type-A Parent Conference, this is the one and only conference I’ve attended this far. Last Fall I had a great time, but Baby C was still very little so we decided that the whole family would go. Read my thoughts after the conference:  http://www.mommybknowsbest.com/type-a-mom-conference-wrap-up/ So I’m really excited to go this year because I loved the intimate setting and amazing speakers. I’m planning on attending this one while DaddyB and the girls stay at home. It’ll be the first time I’ll be without the girls, but I’m hoping that all will go smoothly. Since last conference I’ve made a few more friends here and there  that I’ve really connected with and am so excited to meet and hang out with in person.

So for the next few months I’ll be working on the Birthday Bash posts and growing my sponsorship for the conferences. And if you or someone you know is interested in finding sponsorship details, feel free to email me at mommybknowsbest(at)gmail(dot)com

Feed the Moement Giveaway {CLOSED}

Moes LogoFunny enough to say I have never stepped foot into a Moe’s Southwest Grill restaurant, however I have eaten Moe’s food. Hubby and I often find ourselves eating late at night after the girls go to bed because our night schedule gets pretty hectic between dinner, bath, and bed, it is what it is.

Hubby is a HUGE fan of the, “Joey Bag of Donuts” and recently started liking their quesadillas too, while I’m more of a rice bowl gal myself, but their menu lends to several different dishes because you can customize with several fresh, free ingredients. Some of my favorites are of course sour cream, pico de gallo, and I am a hardcore cilantro fan!!

One of the great things I recently learned about Moe’s is that they serve some pretty healthy, wholesome foods too. They have a gluten-free section in their menu, low-cal options, and have a vegetarian menu as well! They even take the care to be sure not to prepare the veggies in the same area as the meat, which I’m sure every vegetarian appreciates, especially on Meatless Mondays. Read More

Sound Beginnings Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

Sound BeginningsNo, I’m not pregnant again, I swear, actually it’s not even possible unless someone played a joke on me 10 months ago when Baby C was born. Luckily, through my circle of moms groups, Facebook friends, and Miss A’s activities I have parents in all walks of live willing to try out products for MommyBKnowsBest. I actually have quite a few pregnant friends, (some of them don’t have a belly yet) but Miss Kim was willing to help me out with this Sound Beginnings review. Thanks Miss Kim!

Sound Beginnings is a Multiple Award-Winning maternity belt that allows pregnant mothers to share music with their unborn child, in a safe, comfortable environment. The Non-Facebook Giveaway – The Mommy Bundle {CLOSED}

Cuisinart Mini Prep Plus Food Processor

NoSo I wanted to run a giveaway for two great products that I thought you, my readers, would appreciate and call it; The Mommy Bundle. My platform was going to be Facebook, however after simply researching  “how to run a giveaway on Facebook,” I discovered it’s actually “illegal” to do so in most formats, even the giveaways that the really big companies continue to use.

Although I’m a very tiny speck compared to HUGE companies, I am such a rule follower, and would rather not get in trouble with my posting, so I’m moving the giveaway over here to my blog. Read More
