Birthday Bash – Charlotte Bounce Party

Charlotte Bounce Party LogoWhat do Tigger, hydraulic cars, and basketballs all have in common? They all like to bounce, and they’re not alone. Most every child that I know is a huge fan of bouncing, whether it be off the walls, on a trampoline, or better yet inside a fun, inflatable bounce house.

Bring the fun of your local bounce house location to your own party venue with Charlotte Bounce Party. Charlotte Bounce Party features The Magic Castle 15 that is a 15′ Wide x 20.25′ Deep x 11.4′ High Inflatable Bounce house and holds 10 bouncers.

They are insured and keep their equipment clean because they are parents just like us and they care about the safety and well being of other children.

Their services are available from 3 hours to 8 hours and have pretty reasonable pricing packages as well.

If you are within 30 miles of the Davidson area there are no delivery charges, however for an additional fee they will deliver to further locations.

Birthday Bash Happy Birthday Little Miss A

In case you haven’t been keeping track Little Miss A turns 4 today! I can’t believe it’s been 4 years. To me, “four” sounds very old, like “I have a child old,” in some ways I’m very sad that Miss A is growing up, I miss our silly moments and know that just around the bend school is approaching. Believe me I am not rushing her into anything, and even though I know I will cry on her first day {calling it already}, it will be a great opportunity for her. As of yesterday she was telling everyone she was, “three and a half” so it’ll be great for her to finally say “four”.

Her official party will be this weekend which we are excited to celebrate and also share with you, but for now here is my big four year old. I love you Miss A!!! {photo by Barbara Payne Photography who will be featured at the end of the Birthday Bash this month with a giveaway}

Is 4 a grown up age? At what age(s) do you think you’ll have a mini-breakdown about how old they are?

Birthday Bash: The Drop-Off

BalloonsAt what age do the drop-off birthday parties begin? What do I leave my child with? Should I drop my child off if I’m not comfortable with the location or the attendees? Can you drop-off siblings too? These are all questions you may be having when you are invited to a, “drop-off” birthday party.

If you are unfamiliar with these parties or still have small children this is the post for you. Every parent is new at one point or another to drop-off parties, and leaving your child for the first time at a party may be a long-time coming or may make you a nervous wreck. If you in either category here are a few tips for your next drop-off Birthday Bash!

1. Make sure your child is the right age for a drop-off party. The average age of a first-time drop-off attendee is around age 5-7, however base each party on the maturity of your child and other attendees (if you know them well.)

2. Make sure you know the parent well enough and trust them with the safety of your child. Not all parents are alike, which is a good thing, however if you wouldn’t trust them to babysit your child then you may want to reconsider letting your child attend the party.

3. Evaluate the adult to kid ratio. A lot of places that work with children suggest that the best adult to child ratio is about 1 to 10 depending on the age of the child.

4. Offer to help supervise. If you want to transition into the drop-off scene, offer to help the parents oversee the party, helping with taking photos, or setting games up and you can get a feel for what future parties will be like when you aren’t there.

5. Take note of the location. Depending on the age of the children in home parties are the most familiar, however if your child will be at another location make sure you’re comfortable with the setting.

There are many more tips and suggestions for taking your child to a drop-off party, however be sure your child knows how to reach you in case of an emergency or if they feel uncomfortable at any point during the party. Remind them of your ground rules and let them know you expect them to behave just as if they were in your care.  This way they can have the safest, most fun time at the party too.

What are your birthday drop-off tips??

Sweet Tooth LogoFrom the first moment I walked into Sweet Tooth: Unique Convections & Gifts, I felt like I was at home in my hometown at a quaint cafe. I not only love the relaxed setting but the shop has so may great dimensions from Sweet Tooth’s own yummy treats to the cozy book corner, and even some amazing local crafts and gifts.

Birthday Bash – Oriental Trading Company

Some people live and die by Oriental Trading Company and while I don’t go all out for every occasion, they have been my, “go-to” for a lot of events that I’ve hosted, and why wouldn’t they be? With the millions of different themes, the great prices on all of their items, and their amazing customer service {not to mention quick shipping.} I have yet to hear someone speak ill of Oriental Trading Company. {And if you have a different opinion, please feel free to leave a comment, I love to hear from everyone.}

I love the catalogs that I get in the mail because it gives me so many ideas for parties. With the girls parties we had already planned the themes prior to looking at Oriental Trading Company’s items, however after we had the theme we found that both owls and rainbows were featured, I was a little surprised that they had something for such diverse parties, but much to my delight we found some cute items for each girl’s party.

For our owl themed party we found these great Owl Finger Puppets. The Owl Finger Puppets come in four colors, our only issue is that the paint comes off pretty easily, so they may not be great for children who want to put them in their mouth.

Now for the rainbow theme we many more items we are using in the party including these mini rainbow crayons, that I adore:

Don’t they look cool, and they actually work, you have to push on them a little hard though. I personally wish they were a little bigger but that’s my only real complaint, and really they are a great size for small hands.

We also got these large rainbow swirl lollipops that I’ll be putting tags on for favors:

Sorry in advance parents for the sugar high that your children will be on once you’re at home.

and lastly we got these great favor boxes in rainbow colors, a perfect size for birthday party take-home gifts:

What have you bought from Oriental Trading Company that you LOVE or HATE. Have you had experiences with Oriental Trading Company, what are your thoughts?

Birthday Bash – RoundAbouts Cupcake Sleeves

RoundAbouts LogoFor those of you who adore cupcakes, it’s time to get a little snazzy. That’s right, I said, “snazzy.” I was able to check out these cool “cupcake wrappers”, if you will, by RoundAbouts – Cupcake Sleeves. This product was created by mom, Sheri Mersola, who wanted to give people the opportunity to transform their standard, simple cupcakes into something more, and that’s exactly what her line does.

Not only are RoundAbouts super easy to use, {you peel off the backing and stick it together around the cupcake}, but they are a fun touch to any kind of event. While I personally wouldn’t use them for a formal event/wedding I would use several different styles for fun parties to accent my party’s theme.

Birthday Bash – Outdoor Parties

Outdoor Birthday PartyHosting a party can be tough enough, but when it comes to deciding where you’ll have the party, now that’s another story.

If you are thinking about having  an outdoor party here are a few FUN ways to make sure your outdoor party is a success:

Prior to the party:

Mowing Grass Tutu– Make sure you tend to the lawn {if it’s your own}, ensuring the grass is cut, hedges are trimmed, and flowers are looking beautiful. Feel free to mow in a tutu if so inclined.

Playhouse– Set up all appropriate play areas and inspect them fully to make sure they’re lots of fun for the attendees.

Garden Furniture– Be sure there’s plenty of seating for eating, conversations, and looking pretty in general including some beautiful and useful Garden Furniture

Pool Party– If it’s extraordinarily warm out, and there’s not much shade, consider a pool party, for everyone to cool off and have fun splashing

Blue Popsicle-Another great way to cool down are cold treats, make sure food is provided if during meal hours, and otherwise offer appropriate snacks, like blue Popsicles and such.

Paint Smock

– Of course, don’t forget to dress the part, if it’s particularly sunny out be sure everyone has a good coat of sunscreen and if it’s chilly I recommend layers and if it’s just silly out an art smock will do the trick too!

Dora– Lastly, don’t forget to surround yourself with good, faithful friends.

Birthday Bash – Carolina Cakeball Company

I love cake, do you love cake? If were were playing Family Feud and the question, “Name something you think of when it comes to Birthday Parties,” I’m sure one of the top 3 answers, if not the first, would be cake. Birthday cake has been a tradition since the middle of the 19th century (in Western Cultures) and has stood the test of time.

Occasionally, instead of birthday cake people will celebrate with another sweet treat, be it pies, cheesecake, cupcakes, and even the HUGE cookie cakes loaded with frosting. This year we celebrated Baby C’s first birthday with a number of different sweets, but our centerpiece was a cute creation from the Carolina Cakeball Company.

Here are the delicious Neapolitan cakeballs we were able to enjoy with our guests:

Carolina Cakeball Co.

The cakeballs were turned into cakepops for the party and presentation, which made it easier for the kids {and adults} to eat them without getting too messy. These delectably drizzled cakepops came in three flavors; chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. My favorite were by far the fudgy chocolate, {says the choco-holic}, although I heard from different guests great things about each flavor.

We popped {pun intended}, a few of the extra cakepops into the favor bags so our guest could enjoy these bites of delicious cake at home, or just scarf them down in privacy. Carolina Cakeball Co. delivers great product and are increasing their business in Charlotte and surrounding areas. I’m not sure if they ship product as of yet, but if you’re in the Carolinas and want to get some of your very own cakeballs check them out on Facebook or call them at 704.743.3093 to place your order.

And for those of you who are cake purists, Baby C did have a cupcake for her birthday, see:Baby C Cupcake

I received samples of Carolina Cakeball Co. products in order to complete my honest review for this post. The opinions expressed in this post are my own opinions, yours may vary.
