mumi&bubi Baby Food Solids Starter Kit {Guest Review}

When I was pregnant with my first child, I had lofty goals of what would happen after she was born. She was going to sleep on an organic mattress, with organic bedding, wear only organic cotton clothing, only use cloth diapers, and I was going to make her baby food. But life doesn’t always go as we plan. Instead, I worked with what we could afford and did the best I could.

The one thing that I was successful with was making her baby food.

I would usually just take whatever we were eating, puree the vegetables, and that would be her dinner. Although it seemed overwhelming at times with just one child, that was so easy. As our family grows, I learn more and more about how important it is to be organized and to prep food ahead of time.

By the time baby number 3 joined our family, I had given up on cloth diapers and making my own baby food. I stayed in survival mode. It was just easier to buy the jars. I would buy organic and the jars with the least amount of ingredients, but we were just trying to get everyone fed.

This time I’m prepared.

Buying baby food was convenient, but not cost effective. By making my own baby food, I know exactly what is in the food she is eating. I can make my own blends, and even add the purees to dishes I feed my big kids (shh…don’t tell them). I can start freezing baby now so that when she’s old enough, there won’t be any excuses. I’ll just have to pull out a couple of cubes and thaw them.

The Mumi&Bubi Solids Starter Kit makes it easy to get started.

mum and bubi Solids Starter Kit Trays Review MommyB

You can put your mind at ease knowing that the trays are free of BPA, phthalates and other chemicals normally found in other plastics. The trays hold 42 1 ounce portions. Perfect for starting solids. But if your child isn’t old enough for solids yet, you can still use the Mumi&Bubi Solids Starter Kit for freezing breastmilk. You can either use the frozen milk for bottles or save it to thin the puree before freezing.

The trays stack neatly on top of each other and don’t take up much room in the freezer for the amount of food you are freezing at one time. Unlike ice cube trays, it is so easy to pop out the cubes! You simply push down on one side and the cube slides right out.

As if the trays weren’t enough, Mumi&Bubi even have a recipe book and a 6 Week Starting Solids printable Journal available for downloading. Easy.

The Mumi&Bubi Solids Starter Kit makes a great baby shower gift for the expecting mama.

What’s In My Diaper Bag? – Diaper Bag Essentials

This is a sponsored post with Beech-Nut brand, however all opinions are my own, honest thoughts.

Let’s face it moms are always on-the-go, whether it’s doctor’s appointments, playdates, or running errands. It’s so hard to try to remember the list of things to bring with you as you scramble to make it out the door. Organization and pre-planning go a long way in the mommy world, and while it’s not possible to plan everything {ie, diaper blowouts, or traffic jams; both equally horrible}, there are some things that you can plan that are easy and will simplify your life.

Today’s What’s in My Diaper Bag? – Diaper Bag Essentials post isn’t an absolute list, it’s a list to get you started in the right direction and allows you to make changes that will fit your family and personal on-the-go needs.

Playtime

The type of toy will vary depending on your child’s age, but generally speaking choose toys that are easily washable. You already know those toys are going straight to the ground. Sophie la Girafe Teether** {pictured above} is a must-have diaper bag toy. She’s easy to find in stores and can be wiped down quickly {don’t use her as a bath toy}.

Some fabric toys that wrap around the carseat or shopping cart are great too. {Always look for machine-washable to save yourself some time and stress.}

Mealtime

Easy travel dining ware, like pop-up bowls and disposable flatware are great for meals on the go.

I also highly recommend easy snacks. We’re pretty mindful of what our kids are eating and compare brands to see which are the healthiest and Beech-Nut** really stands out. Not only are their baby and toddler snacks and cereals real ingredients, but they are super portable and a great addition to your diaper bag essentials.

Check out their Naturals™ and Organics™ lines:

Don’t forget the two-in-one highchair/shopping cart cover like this multi-colored Eddie Bauer Reversible Cart & High Chair Cover**. We loved ours and highly recommend keeping one in your diaper bag. {Opt for darker colors to hide stains.}

While we are at it, I love these Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Milk Feeding Bib the unique dribble catcher absorbs moisture and is ideal for drips or teething and they’re reversible as well.

Changing time

Of course diapers and wipes are important, we heart Pampers brand. Be sure to put a few diapers in your bag, get a travel wipes case, and remember to check every so often to refill.

Changing Pads often come with diaper bags but personally I’ve always been hesitant to use them because I feel like they may not be super clean, I typically go with disposable options and you can find earth-friendly versions as well.

Don’t feel like carrying a dirty diaper around in your diaper bag? Yuck! I highly recommend having the handy Munchkin Arm & Hammer Diaper Bag Dispenser & Bags** attached to your diaper bag at all times. It clips on to the strap AND smells great.

Remember the extra change of clothes for when messes occur, trust me you’ll thank me later.

Mommy time

It’s always nice to have a few things for mom stashed away in your diaper bag. Remember some bottled water, a quick snack, extra clothes, and maybe even some shower wipes to freshen up a bit. If you can sneak a good book or magazine in, GO YOU!!

Healthy time

Disinfect the world. Okay I know some germs are good, but for public places and unexpected stops I love a good disinfecting wipe. Yep, I’m that mom.

You can buy a set of nail clippers, a thermometer, all your baby’s health needs separately, but why when you can get everything in a complete set that comes with a great little bag to keep everything in one place in your diaper bag. Love this set by Safety 1st. Check out their Deluxe Healthcare & Grooming Kit**.

Okay on this last one, I have not personally tried this but feel like I have seen parents in a standing ovation over this health product. Ladies, and gents, I give you the Fridababy NoseFrida® Nasal Aspirator**. Again, people swear by it and reviews on shopping sites are pretty impressive.

And don’t forget the cute Oh Joy!® Backpack Diaper Bag** that’s super stylish and just the right size to hold all your essentials and not be overwhelmingly large.

So tell me, What’s In Your Diaper Bag? No, seriously, I really want to know! Leave a comment below, can’t wait to see what your must-haves are.

The Children’s Place Online Order Cancellations

After needing to update our girls’ wardrobes we did some shopping at The Children’s Place earlier this month. During a special promotion we received Place Cash to spend on purchases at a later date.

Yesterday I took advantage of a quiet moment to order a few things we were still lacking, excited at the great prices and the fact that The Children’s Place carries size 16 in girl’s clothing. After using my rewards coupon and Place Cash I checked out.

This afternoon, however I received an email that my orders had been canceled, which seemed very weird to me. After about an hour on the phone (34 minutes on hold and the other on and off hold with a very polite customer representative), I was told someone had hacked Place Cash numbers and used them from purchases and as a preemptive strike The Children’s Place was cancelling all online orders using Place Cash.

I received an email with new coupon and rewards codes, I’m a little surprised they didn’t offer anything for the inconvenience of having to reorder and being on the phone for so long. Also, I’m a little apprehensive filling up the cart again and also hoping we don’t miss out on any styles/sizes that we were able to “purchase” yesterday. I understand these things happen and the rep at The Children’s Place has been very understanding.

If you are stuck in this same situation, and would still like to use your cash, hopefully you won’t be on hold for the same amount of time, but be sure to call 1-877-752-2387.

CVS Curbside Pickup

This is a sponsored post in partnership with CVS/pharmacy.

If you’re a busy parent I guarantee that saving time is a top priorities. During the summer months finding ways to make errands shorter not only help me spend more fun time with my girls but also helps leaves me less stressed.

Ever find yourself dreading going in the store? Yeah me too! Sometimes you have a sleeping baby you really don’t want to wake up, sometimes it’s a battle to justify getting everyone in and out of the store, and other times I’m under the weather and just wish I could just stay in my car with my sniffles.

Whatever reason you dread going into the store help is here.

I recently discovered CVS/pharmacy’s new Curbside Pickup, a really cool, time-saving feature.

Here’s How It Works:

Head to the CVS Mobile app or the CVS website. Find a location near you and follow the instructions for Curbside Pickup to start shopping.

CVSPharmacy App

After processing your order CVS will text you that your order is ready and send you a pickup pass to use once you get to the store. (You can also track your order.)

CVS Curbside Pickup Processing MommyB

Typical transactions may take around an hour to fill.

Once you receive the text that your order is ready head to the CVS you placed your order with and find the CVS Curbside Sign like this:

CVS Curbside Pickup Sign MommyBKnowsBest

Then you wait for your order to be brought out to your vehicle.

The CVS employee scans the pickup pass and your transaction is complete.

Quick Details:

· The service is currently available in 3 select regions (with plans to roll out later on): Charlotte, Atlanta and San Francisco

· To use the service, customers can choose from thousands of non-prescription items through either the CVS Mobile App or website, and have them delivered curbside at a local CVS Pharmacy location within an hour

· No markups or added costs (LOVE this!!!)

· You can link your ExtraCare number to your CVS.com account and earn quarterly ExtraBucks Rewards and receive weekly ad sale prices on CVS Curbside Pickup orders (please note: item pricing will vary by store)

My Experience:

CVS Curbside Pickup Purchase MommyB

The service is awesome. It’s easy to shop and add your items if you know what you’re looking for. You can check out their featured items, search by department, or the search bar allows you to find exactly what you’re looking for.

During my use I put an item in my cart that wasn’t available at my local store. The system texted me right away letting me know I had to update my order and the store even called to clarify. Though they’re working out a few bugs I know I get the service of a live person at the store who is working hard to ensure my satisfaction.

I realized a couple of the items I had in my cart were on sale either with coupons from my ExtraCare Card or the store’s regular sale prices. Yippee!!

CVS Express Pickup MommyB

After placing my order I received the text it was ready within about 10 minutes.

CVS Curbside Pickup Ready MommyB

We hopped in the car (really I could have taken them without shoes or in their jammies since we didn’t have to get out of the car, hooray!!!) Once we pulled into the CVS parking lot my sister timed how long we waited for our items and it was under a minute!!! I was pretty impressed, and the service was excellent.

Seriously, doing this every time I shop would be a huge blessing. I love that CVS is starting this service and hope that more places follow suit. Now I can grab sunscreen on our way to the park if I forget it or order medicine for a headache and snacks for the kids while I’m running errands. Because we all know even the most well-behaved kiddos sometimes have a hard time “running into the store” and sometimes we just “don’t wanna”.

Keep Your Sanity During Holiday Travel

As an ambassador for Rayovac I have been compensated for this blog post. All thoughts and opinions on the products are my own.

Travel during the Holiday season can be a bit overwhelming. Add some children (maybe even a bitty baby), maybe a pet, inclement weather, traffic, construction, and the stress level can be almost unbearable. Trust me, I’ve been there!

Here are some tips on how my family stays sane during Holiday travel, {hope they come in handy!}:

Keep Your Sanity During Holiday Travel MommyB

It’s electric! Boogie Woogie.

{great now I have that song stuck in my head} Seriously though, we’re not HUGE screen time parents on your average day, but a 4+ hour trip, especially those longer than 10 hours call for some sort of electronic play, at least in our car.

This can be tricky though for several reasons, but here are a few tricks to keep a handle on the situation.

1. Charge EVERYTHING up before you leave. The night before or the day of your trip get your charge on.

2. Bring extra batteries. I recommend Rayovac Alkaline batteries because they’re a trusted brand name AND hold charge just as long as their competitors plus they’re a lower price, great for energy sucking travel toys. **

3. Set time limits on electronics (don’t let the kiddos play on screens for several hours on end or you’ll have crabby kiddos).

** Rayovac has some great coupons available for even greater savings on their already low priced products! Head to the Rayovac Facebook page to unlock them!!

MommyB Happy Traveling Baby

Baby Love

1. If possible, it’s best for someone to sit next to baby. It’s easier (and safer) than stopping the car or trying to reach back.

2. Plan for several stops for feeding and changing.

3. Consider buying a car-safe musical toy or mobile to keep baby entertained on the ride. Bring some extra batteries just in case!

Keep Sane During Holiday Travels MommyB

Game Plan

Decide ahead of time what games and activities you’ll bring or use to keep the kiddos occupied.

1. Of course this varies by age, but we like to bring mini dry erase boards for them and us to write words, draw pictures, and do math problems {bonus points for fun learning}.

2. Other great activities for kiddos are counting cars (choose a color and get counting), car bingo (find great printables on Pinterest), I spy, and any versions of animal, mineral, vegetable (we use nouns – person, place, thing).

3. Plan to stop at interesting places along the way. It can be planned (preferably) or impromptu, but this will give the whole family a break and if it’s an activity something fun to do, and if it’s just a beautiful scenic rest stop something to talk about on the rest of your trip.

What tips and tricks do you use to keep your sanity during Holiday travel?

Whatever you come up with for your family’s travel plans, just make sure you enjoy it. Not every second will be the most fun or memorable, but taking the good from what can be mundane is what truly builds up our family time.

Safe travels this Holiday season!!!

Cocoonies Baby Product Guest Review

I have big babies.

They have all been over 8 lbs, and 2 were 9+ lbs. I keep hoping one of these days I’ll have one of those sweet, tiny 7 lbs babies, but I doubt that will happen. A girl can wish though!

One of the things I love about big babies are their kissable cheeks and those precious rolls. I could just eat them up! Infancy is really the only time rolls are cute, but boy are they so sweet.

Baby in Carrier using Cocoonies MommyB

But with those rolls, comes weight. Add an infant carseat to the mix, and you might as well be carrying a ton of bricks in the crook of your arm. Ouch! Those infant seats look light, but looks can be deceiving. I’ve actually had bruises on my arm from carrying my babies around in their seats.

That’s why I am so thankful I was introduced to Cocoonies. The Cocoonies Handle Cover provides just the right amount of padding to be comfortable and not bulky. They come in a variety of colorful fabrics to dress up your infant carseat. There are straps that go around the edges to make sure the Cocoonies Handle Cover stays in place. You can even add a plastic hook to the ribbon loop to hang a toy to entertain your little one while they stay in their seat.

Cocoonies Stylish and Functional Cradle Comfort MommyB

Recently, they also introduced Strapletz. Strapletz are great because they provide comfortable padding near the baby’s neck, covering the infant seat straps. Both Strapletz have ribbons so that you can attach a small toy on one side and a pacifier on the other side. And they come in coordinating fabrics, so you can match the Cocoonies Handle Cover.

Cocoonies and Strapletz Baby Review MommyB

Cocoonies and Strapletz make great baby shower gifts. They add a pop of color and style to the infant seat but are functional too. If you are searching for just the right baby shower gift or hospital present for a friend or family member, look no further than the Cocoonies and Strapletz coordinating set. You won’t be disappointed in the quality and your friend will thank you for saving their arm.

Beautiful, Comfortable Lingerie for Nursing and Pregnant Moms {Guest Review}

Pre-babies, I was a lingerie snob. I got my first bra from a well-known lingerie store, and just never went anywhere else. The styles were great, the fit was good. I didn’t have any reason to look somewhere else.

But when I got finally got pregnant, I was at a loss. I assumed that it would be easy to find a nursing bra that was both stylish and functional. Boy was I wrong. I was sadly disappointed when I was pregnant with my first child to find that stylish nursing bras were hard to come by. I bought a couple from the Lactation Consultant, and added nursing tanks into the rotation.

Nursing tanks became my norm. For four years now I’ve basically worn nursing tanks everyday. While they are comfortable, there is no support. It was time to look for new nursing bras. But where?

I was excited when I learned about hotmilk lingerie. But could nursing bras actually be stylish and functional? Honestly, I was doubtful, but hoping they would prove me wrong.

HotMilk Lingerie Packaging MommyB

I was impressed by the website. They really are beautiful, and dare I say it? Sexy.

Just because you are hugely pregnant or in the no-sleep phase of life with a newborn, doesn’t mean you can’t wear sexy lingerie under your comfy clothes. You can even get underwear to match!

The quality is great. And they are oh so comfy, which is super important whether you are pregnant or nursing.

HotMilk Ivory Bra Review MommyB

First Light

  • 3/4 Soft Cup with side sling support
  • 100% cotton lining
  • Microfiber shell and embroidery detailing
  • Flexi-wire
  • Sizes: 10/32B – 16/38F

Black Front and Back

Eclipse Black

  • Full B-H cup with A-frame support
  • Lace and Mesh Shell
  • 100% Cotton lining for breathability
  • Feminine detailing of satin bows and diamantes
  • Wire-free
  • Wider bra straps on the larger cup sizes

6 Rows of Hooks

  • 6 rows of hooks on the back adjuster to allow the bra to grow with you

I love that these don’t have underwires. I’ve never been able to find an underwire nursing bra that is comfortable for me. But I’ll also admit that my nursing chest is not small. The six rows of hooks are great because it can grow with you. You can wear the bras while your pregnant and continue to wear it while you lose the baby weight.

It’s been great wearing bras that actually fit me again. The bonus is that they don’t look like plain and frumpy nursing. They are stylish and sexy.

Not sure about buying bras online? I completely understand! I’m definitely someone who likes to try things on before I buy. That’s why I love the Your Fitting Room tab. The FAQ page was excellent for answering the questions I had. Especially the “when should I buy a nursing bra?” question. Hotmilk has a generous 30 day return policy. Just make sure you don’t remove the tags.

If you’re in the market for nursing bras that you can wear while you’re pregnant and then while you nurse, I highly recommend Hotmilk Lingerie. You can check out their website for yourself: hotmilklingerie.com

Mitsubishi Motors’ “First Ride” Event Video

This is a sponsored post in an effort to showcase car seat safety initiatives highlighted in the video below.

Three New York City newborns will be making their first ride home in one of America’s safest cars as part of Mitsubishi Motors’ “First Ride” event. The program focuses on creating awareness and educating parents on child safety.

Instead of making the journey home through the streets of New York City in a taxi – an experience that does not legally require a car seat – the parents participating in Mitsubishi Motors’ “First Ride” event opted for a ride home from the hospital with their new bundles of joy in a fully-equipped 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander – an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) highest-rated “Top Safety Pick+” vehicle piloted by professional drivers. Their touching personal stories have become a series of short web films that contrast the craziness of the streets of the big city, with the calm, precious moments shared between three newborns and their parents.

Protect Baby from Bugs and Sun with Cozy Cover {Guest Review}

This week has been wonderful! I am so excited that the weather has been warm and the sun has been bright and shining in North Carolina. Hopefully this is an indication that Spring is here to stay!

We are spending a lot of time outside. That’s wonderful for the older children, but we just welcomed our newest member of the family into the world last week. I can’t be two places at one time, so she comes outside with us. She’s definitely been getting her vitamin D, but I don’t want her to burn.

I was pretty excited to see the Cozy Cover Sun & Bug Cover when it arrived in the mail. It’s the perfect solution!

Cozy Cover Review MommyB

Cozy Cover Out of the Box

Not only does it protect her from the sun, it also keeps the bugs away. We have a pergola attached to our back porch and the wood bees LOVE it. Thankfully they tend to mind their own business if we leave them alone. So far we haven’t had to deal with mosquitos. But they usually aren’t bad until Summer officially starts.

With the weather being so nice out this week, our oldest daughter requested that we eat outside for dinner. I didn’t really want to lay a blanket on the grass or the concrete and lay baby girl down, so I pulled out her car seat and attached the Cozy Cover.

It was so easy to use!

There an elasticized edge around the cover, and it fits snuggly around the sides of the infant car seat. This makes for a great universal fit. We have an Cybex Aton infant seat, and it fits great.

The pullover flap protects the baby from the sun, or even rain. It has elastic at the bottom of the flap so it fits securely over the seat.

There is even a self-supporting canopy to keep the cover away from the baby’s face.

Cozy Sun and Bug Cover Review

Her brothers and sister enjoyed having her outside with them, and I had peace of mind that she was safe from the sun and any bugs that might want to feast on her newborn sweetness.
