What’s In My Diaper Bag? – Diaper Bag Essentials

This is a sponsored post with Beech-Nut brand, however all opinions are my own, honest thoughts.

Let’s face it moms are always on-the-go, whether it’s doctor’s appointments, playdates, or running errands. It’s so hard to try to remember the list of things to bring with you as you scramble to make it out the door. Organization and pre-planning go a long way in the mommy world, and while it’s not possible to plan everything {ie, diaper blowouts, or traffic jams; both equally horrible}, there are some things that you can plan that are easy and will simplify your life.

Today’s What’s in My Diaper Bag? – Diaper Bag Essentials post isn’t an absolute list, it’s a list to get you started in the right direction and allows you to make changes that will fit your family and personal on-the-go needs.

Playtime

The type of toy will vary depending on your child’s age, but generally speaking choose toys that are easily washable. You already know those toys are going straight to the ground. Sophie la Girafe Teether** {pictured above} is a must-have diaper bag toy. She’s easy to find in stores and can be wiped down quickly {don’t use her as a bath toy}.

Some fabric toys that wrap around the carseat or shopping cart are great too. {Always look for machine-washable to save yourself some time and stress.}

Mealtime

Easy travel dining ware, like pop-up bowls and disposable flatware are great for meals on the go.

I also highly recommend easy snacks. We’re pretty mindful of what our kids are eating and compare brands to see which are the healthiest and Beech-Nut** really stands out. Not only are their baby and toddler snacks and cereals real ingredients, but they are super portable and a great addition to your diaper bag essentials.

Check out their Naturals™ and Organics™ lines:

Don’t forget the two-in-one highchair/shopping cart cover like this multi-colored Eddie Bauer Reversible Cart & High Chair Cover**. We loved ours and highly recommend keeping one in your diaper bag. {Opt for darker colors to hide stains.}

While we are at it, I love these Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Milk Feeding Bib the unique dribble catcher absorbs moisture and is ideal for drips or teething and they’re reversible as well.

Changing time

Of course diapers and wipes are important, we heart Pampers brand. Be sure to put a few diapers in your bag, get a travel wipes case, and remember to check every so often to refill.

Changing Pads often come with diaper bags but personally I’ve always been hesitant to use them because I feel like they may not be super clean, I typically go with disposable options and you can find earth-friendly versions as well.

Don’t feel like carrying a dirty diaper around in your diaper bag? Yuck! I highly recommend having the handy Munchkin Arm & Hammer Diaper Bag Dispenser & Bags** attached to your diaper bag at all times. It clips on to the strap AND smells great.

Remember the extra change of clothes for when messes occur, trust me you’ll thank me later.

Mommy time

It’s always nice to have a few things for mom stashed away in your diaper bag. Remember some bottled water, a quick snack, extra clothes, and maybe even some shower wipes to freshen up a bit. If you can sneak a good book or magazine in, GO YOU!!

Healthy time

Disinfect the world. Okay I know some germs are good, but for public places and unexpected stops I love a good disinfecting wipe. Yep, I’m that mom.

You can buy a set of nail clippers, a thermometer, all your baby’s health needs separately, but why when you can get everything in a complete set that comes with a great little bag to keep everything in one place in your diaper bag. Love this set by Safety 1st. Check out their Deluxe Healthcare & Grooming Kit**.

Okay on this last one, I have not personally tried this but feel like I have seen parents in a standing ovation over this health product. Ladies, and gents, I give you the Fridababy NoseFrida® Nasal Aspirator**. Again, people swear by it and reviews on shopping sites are pretty impressive.

And don’t forget the cute Oh Joy!® Backpack Diaper Bag** that’s super stylish and just the right size to hold all your essentials and not be overwhelmingly large.

So tell me, What’s In Your Diaper Bag? No, seriously, I really want to know! Leave a comment below, can’t wait to see what your must-haves are.

Babies Love Bumbo #bumbocares

When I think about products that are must-haves for parents I think of things like Diaper Genie, Boppy pillows, Pampers diapers, MAM pacifiers, Snack Trap, and Bumbo {to name only a few of my favorites}. Whenever I shop for friends who are expecting a new baby I check to see if they have these things on their list and if so I usually try to buy them because I know they will get plenty of use and are invaluable to parents.

Both of my girls loved their Bumbo seat, we’ve shared with friends over the years, and in fact we even handed it down to another family a couple of years ago.

While the Bumbo seat is pretty well-known, their BumboCares program is not as famous. Check out this video to learn more about BumboCares and to see how Bumbo is giving back:

BumboCares_SocialMedia_ABumbo is committed to child safety so please be sure to use Bumbo on the floor and make sure your child’s seat belt is securely fastened.

Bumbo is great to travel with, easy to clean, and great for babies and toddlers. The Bumbo seat comes in several colors and also has a play tray accessory. If you’ve never heard of Bumbo I suggest you check them out by heading to their website here: BumboUSA.

Toys, Toys, Everywhere – Toy Organizing {Guest Post}

Ever feel like your home is flooded with toys? Are there toys in every room of your home?? Are your children not sure what to play with first because there are too many options??

If there are 20 toys to play with, then she will play with the ones that appeal to her at that moment, moving on other options as the day or week progresses.

This is a similar mentality when our closets are packed with clothes. We are presented with too many options therefore wearing the items that we like the most. The rest hang for months or even years without seeing the light of day.

Here are some tips to organize your toy catastrophe in your house, or at least tame it a little.

Organizing-toys

Rotate children’s toys each week or month.

Rotating toys is easier than it sounds. I’m no scrooge when it comes to showering our children with love and presents. But to the point made above, give your child less options on a more regular basis.

Buy a few large storage bins from your local department store. Sort and categorize your child’s toys. Pack up a selection of toys into the tupperware bins. Think variety here. Rotate every week or month, whatever schedule works for you and your family.

As a nice bonus, it will be easy to pick out the toys that your child doesn’t really like. Easily donate those and your child won’t miss them!

Get your child involved with charities and giving early.

Pick a charity that speaks to you and possibly your child. Become invested in the charity by volunteering and making donations in the form of time or toys. Get to know some of the individuals involved.

When your children understand that others in the world don’t have it so well, then they will be more likely to give and help.

We are a society that will always accumulate more. Take the time now to set up a system that will keep your children interested in their toys and teach them to donate for the greater good.

What are some of your toy organization tips?

I Count on Carter’s because Quality Matters {Giveaway}

Does your child have a special lovey or a favorite outfit that they adore?? For us, Miss A has, “bunny”. Bunny is Miss A’s best friend. Bunny has been with A before she was born and she still sleeps with bunny too. Miss A has taken Bunny on some special trips, doctor’s visits, and even her first haircut.

A Haircut Bunny

Miss A loves Bunny so much that her first birthday party theme was based on her bunny AND we ordered a cake that looked just like her.

In fact, I still remember the day I bought Bunny at a local Carter’s store. In fact, I bought two bunnies because another mom I know recommended that we have more than one lovey in case one was in the wash or we lose one, {which I always recommend to other moms now too}.

Just as we’ve been able to count on Bunny to be there when there are bumps, scary situations, and to help Miss A sleep, we’ve counted on Carters for well-made clothes that last, adorable styles and fun fashion, great varieties of pieces to mix-and-match, and affordable prices {not to mention awesome sales.}

Childhood. It’s chock-full of the unexpected. But, from their first cry to their first class, there are certain truths every parent can count on…for example, socks will come and go…but mostly…they’ll go. They love swimming, but hate baths. On any given day, she’ll have more wardrobe changes than a Broadway musical. There are just some things you can always count on. And, thankfully, Carter’s is one of them.

Being a mom is one of the most rewarding experiences. Be among the first to see the digital premiere of Carter’s latest TV commercial, and click share if you agree that when a child is born, so is a mom. Click here: Count on Carter’s to watch the commercial {and have tissues at the ready, if you’re anything like me you’ll need them.}

It’s no surprise that since our girls have grown up with Carter’s products, including some adorable outfits, that we’ll be shopping at Carter’s for their holiday dresses. We love shopping at Carter’s because our girls can both get something to wear that will match or compliment and work great for our Christmas photo {too bad they don’t have mommy and daddy sized clothes.}

Here are some of my favorite pieces from Carter’s Holiday line:

This is most likely the dress I’ll get them, but it’s so hard to choose. Isn’t it sweet?!?

Carter's Red Holiday Dress

and you can’t forget super cute accessories to go with those pretty outfits, like these velvet bows:

I didn’t want to leave the boys out either, although I don’t have one they have some adorable pieces to complete the perfectly styled little guy. See!!
