Save-A-Lot Grand OpeningIn the land of Save-A-Lot everyone saves a lot. If you’re not familiar with Save-A-Lot grocery stores these are the times when you will want to acquaint yourself with the nearest one using their Store Locator. My small hometown got a Save-A-Lot a few years back and my mom loves shopping there.

On March 4th, 2010 I was invited to the Grand Opening of Save-A-Lot located on Freedom Drive right here in Charlotte. What a great honor as a blogging mommy! This was my first event as a blogger, although I’ve interviewed many people for publications and radio it was a great treat to see everything Save-A-Lot had in store for the community.A lot of prestigious faces showed up to kick off this super saving event. Mayor of Charlotte Anthony Foxx, North Carolina Secretary of Commerce J. Keith Crisco, Bill Shaner, President and CEO of Save-A-Lot, were a few of the great presenters and dignitaries at the Charlotte Save-A-Lot Grand Opening.

Among the fun was the “dollar cutting ceremony” and race for savings where Mayor Anthony Foxx and several others rallied local children and raced through the store to commemorate the event. I also joined a few other great bloggers, and representative for Matrixx Laura Glaser, in a wonderful luncheon where we got to talk about Save-A-Lot and network.

Since I have enjoyed some great produce and products made specifically for Save-A-Lot foods and can tell you from my personal experience they’ve been very yummy!

With nearly 1,200 stores throughout 39 states, Save-A-Lot Food Stores is committed to providing families easy access to quality, affordable and even healthier groceries. Save-A-Lot offers a savings of up to 40 percent on groceries when compared to conventional stores. Isn’t that amazing? Bill Shaner, President and CEO, stated: “Save-A-Lot operates smaller stores, and we carry the most popular grocery items which positions us to better serve families who demand convenience, quality and consistently low prices.”

Not only is Save-A-Lot focused on saving the community money, but they are focused on helping those in need in the communities there stores are located. In honor of the openings and to demonstrate its commitment neighborhoods throughout the state, Save-A-Lot is donating $25,000 in gift cards to North Carolina hunger relief organizations.

The donation recipients include: Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina based in Charlotte, Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast Carolina based in Fayetteville, Pastor’s Pantry in Lexington, Shadybrook Baptist Church Food Pantry in Kannapolis, West Point Baptist Church Food Pantry in Kannapolis and Shelby Presbyterian Church Food Pantry.

On another great note with each new store that Save-A-Lot opens they provide 25 jobs in that area. With the economy Save-A-Lot seems to be going above and beyond to not only save shoppers money, but give to charitable foundations, and provide jobs in those areas.

Their prices really are amazing and they do carry some great name brand products and even some of the “unknown” brands are actually name brand manufactured specifically for Save-A-Lot under a different label within the same company. How tricky is that!?!
