Perfect Parent’s Date Night In #PopSecretMovieNight

Occasionally I mention how DaddyB and I don’t go on dates out of the house, however because our girls go to bed at 7:30pm and we don’t go to bed until around 12:00 midnight or so, we have some good quality time together by staying in.

A couple of weeks ago we had our first date out in 3.9 years {unless you count a parent-teacher conference in 2012}. It was a nice date, and we’re already planning another night out soon, however in between our next date out we’ll have a bunch of time together at home.

If you think about it, it’s really nice to be able to connect in the comfort of your own home. You don’t have to dress up {unless you want to}, you don’t have to brave the weather, you don’t have to spend money on a babysitter or gas or even entertainment if you don’t want or are on a budget.

Hubby and I enjoy what we call “technology-free Fridays”. Occasionally, we decide that a Friday night will be technology free, which to us, mainly means computer/phone free. We usually will pick up a movie or watch one from our movie mail-subscription. Hooray for movie night!!

My husband likes to set the movie-mode by making a few small adjustments to our living room.

First, he moves the couch to the “perfect movie viewing distance”. I’m not joking you, he’s done his research using movie viewing distance calculators, google it!

Then, he makes sure our favorite warm, comfy blanket is on hand so he can fall asleep get cozy during the movie.

PopSecretLogoAnd of course, no movie would be complete without our favorite snacks. We have our typical drinks and usually we’ll share a big bowl of Pop Secret popcorn, sometimes though we want our own portions. Hubby doesn’t mind his popcorn plain, but I admit I still like to add a tiny bit of seasoning, white cheddar is my favorite.

Last but not least, we have our movie, sometimes it’s hubby’s pick, usually action, and other times it’s mine, comedy or romance, something along those lines, and now for a message from our sponsor:

At Pop Secret, we love movies as much as you love movies. So we’re on a mission to make movie watching and popcorn even more social and fun. We’re sharing a bunch of apps, tools, and fun partnerships with everyone over at our hub, Pop Secret Labs (http://www.popsecretlabs.com/).  Keep checking back to try ‘em all out and give us feedback. The more you get involved, the better all of our movie experiences will be. See you there!

I made my own hospital drama, it was actually pretty fun and I think I want to try to make a few that are funny too. Check it out:

I love movie night, it’s a great night not only for me to be able to relax, and take a break from the day and work, but also a great opportunity to connect with hubby. Even though we’re not constantly talking throughout movies, we get to laugh together, snuggle, and enjoy just being. Every couple needs a quality time, so make sure you find opportunities to spend time together.

I love chillin at home with hubby. Seriously, you guys need to plan more date nights! When we aren’t watching Doctor Who or Game of Thrones together, we love WORKING OUT. Getting to work out together is rare and gets our endorphins pumping!

I LOVE movie night! My husband and I are both big movie fans, so this is a regular occurrence when we have a few moments together. :) What’s better than a good flick and snuggling on the couch?!

I love that your husband rearranges furniture for your date night! That totally sounds like something mine would do… And now I’m going to have to Google it :)

Our date nights pretty much consist of putting on an old movie on and snuggling up!
