My Medifast Progress – Week 1

Has this week flown by quickly for anyone else?? Even though I had an entirely new pattern of eating with the Medifast 5 and 1 plan {5 Medifast meals and 1 Lean and Green meal}, my schedule has not slowed down one bit. Overall my first two days of the plan were spent getting used to the taste of the meals and adjusting to the smaller portions and lower calories.

Remember everything I put in this post is my honest experience with Medifast, and I won’t say I loved the meals and wasn’t hungry at all. In fact, before I started Medifast I was eating the most unhealthy {but tasty} foods I could have been eating. If you think about it, going from a very flavor-filled super high calorie diet to one that is based more on protein and a low glycemic index isn’t going to be a smooth transition.

The funny thing though….I heard about “Day 3” {and I think it may differ between people}, but basically by Day 3 your body adjusts to the Medifast plan. Meaning, I could tell my taste buds were changing as the same foods I tried and didn’t really care for became more tasty to me. I also loved the feeling of not being “stuffed” after a meal. Before Medifast I would get a lot of food and had the “must-finish-everything-on-my-plate” mentality, which really just left me feeling lethargic and gross. With the 5 small meals I feel satisfied and am able to get more done during the day.

Medifast Cheese Pizza Bites

For my Lean and Green meals I’ve mostly been doing chicken and green veggies to be on the safe side, which by the time I get to eat this meal, I’m ready to eat anything substantial anyway so it takes like the most delicious meal to me regardless. Although I’m sure as I stay on plan longer I’ll want more of a variety. I’m just thankful my entire family loves, or at least will eat green veggies.

Okay now to the “good stuff”, my results for this week.

Medifast Week 1 Results

Starting Weight: 168.5 lbs {I actually said it, and whoa!! I hadn’t weighed myself in a few weeks, definitely up from where I was}
Weight Lost This Week: -5.5 lbs {163 lbs}
Weight Lost Total: -5.5 lbs
My First Goal: -33 lbs/135.5 lbs {since I’m 33, I thought that was appropriate}
My Final Goal: -16.5 lbs/119 lbs {half of 33}
Foods I’ve tried so far:
Medifast Vanilla/Mocha/Dutch Chocolate(ready to-go) – {LOVE THESE}
Medifast Cheese Pizza Bites {I may have to get used to these}
Medifast Carmel Nut Bar {I really like these, although I can only have 1 a day on my current plan.}
Medifast Mac & Cheese {this new meal is a little bland but with some pepper not bad}
Medifast S’mores Bars {these taste “buttery” to me, in a good way}
Medifast Chocolate Crunch Bars {I like these}
Medifast Sloppy Joe {reminds me of chinese food, not sure about the aftertaste or texture though}
Medifast Peanut Butter Soft Serve {smells delicious, love the texture but not the taste}
Medifast Cereal Crunch Cinnamon & Brown Sugar {me no likey}
Medifast BBQ Bites {surprisingly I really like these, they remind me of Hot Fries}
Medifast Brownie {not bad, not super flavorful and a little vitamin-y}
Medifast Chocolate Chip Pancakes {the chocolate chips helped but I didn’t like the texture}
Medifast Cinnamon Pretzel Sticks {didn’t love the texture but drank with a lot of water and it was edible}
Medifast Calorie Burn Strawberry Lemonade Flavor Infuser: {Yummy!! I’m not a fan of green tea or juices really but this is great, and helps me get my water in too!!}

Energy: Seems pretty normal if not a little more from not being so weighed down by food.
Pant size: 12ish

  • Hey!!! I know this sounds weird but… why types of foods did you LOVE before? I was thinking I would be able to gauge your taste buds to mine LOL. Im about to start this whole medifast thing in the next few weeks. Example if you liked Pizzas before and love the cheese bites and I too like pizza I might like the bites… Sounds crazy??? Im just unsure what to order and I dont want to be out the money.. of course I will eat it any how but I want to make the transition smooth 🙂

    • Hey Christina, that doesn’t sound crazy. I liked all things not healthy: pizza, burgers, etc. did you check out my food reviews?? I have a lot of input there.
