Eco-Duck Review

This is my second review for International Playthings, they have so many great learning toys and now I am learning about their Eco-Friendly line of toys as well.
I wouldn’t say I’m fully on board with the eco-movement, but I definitely enjoy finding alternatives that are better for my Earth and my daughter’s Earth.
We got to test out this really fun toy, Eco Duck. When we first received it I couldn’t help but notice the cute packaging. Eco Duck comes in a small recycled paper box that you can recycle again. I think I may just keep mine for a future gift box. I enjoy that Eco Duck was not wrapped in plastic and layered in 3 times it’s weight in cardboard. Seeing that it’s an eco-friendly toy especially it would defeat the purpose if the packaging was, like most companies, a little overboard. Have you ever received a package where the box could fit 10 items in, but only has one tiny thing and a bunch of bubble wrap? That kills me and is annoying to try to throw away.
Eco Duck is a pretty simple pull toy, and overall I really enjoyed it. It’s very sturdy and Little Miss A liked pulling her around the house. I say, “her” because A named her Mrs. Duck, yes she’s married, that’s right. As a mom of now two children, between the baby swing, and A’s electronic toys we go through batteries like crazy, so I really appreciate that Eco Duck is a wind up toy. I do have to say thought that you will get quite the workout with this toy because you have to wind it very fast and frequently to get the music going.
Once you get the duck wound up, the three lights light up and play music. I wish that the creators of Eco Duck, Ecotronic, would have put the music speaker on top or on the side of the duck though. When we had Eco Duck on the carpet the music was barely audible, but you could hear her better when she was on our laminate flooring.
Eco Duck is a good learning toy, especially if you are teaching your child colors, letters, or shapes. Ecotronic did a great job making sure Eco Duck’s buttons were multi-functional, not only are they different colors, shapes, and letters, but they also light up and play different songs when pressed.
Overall this toy is a great alternative to battery-sucking toys and in some cases more educational, but I think Eco Duck could use a few tweaks to make it even better.
