Birthday Bash – Boogie Boutique

Are you ready to boogie? How about a, “Birthday Boogie”? If so then you’ll need a cute Boogie Boutique outfit to commence. Baby C is beyond ready:

Baby C in Boogie Boutique

First off, you have to love the name, Boogie Boutique. Secondly, once you see their line up of uber-cute, frilly, girls clothes and adorable boys wear you’ll have a hard time picking your favorites.

In keeping with the cute, “Look Whoo’s One” owl theme I challenged {and I say challenged as more of a request than a demand}, Boogie Boutique to create a specific look for the onesie, and to my surprise it wasn’t quite what I asked for…..it was much much cuter. They added their own little signature through pink sequins on the owl and coordinated the bow with our Neapolitan colors. I fell in love as soon as I saw it wrapped so sweetly in the package it arrived in.

This three piece set started off with the adorable onesie (you can opt for a t-shirt instead), personalized bloomers with matching bows, and sassy, matching tutu, which Baby C LOVED! Boogie Boutique also has a great selection of hair clips, bibs, burp cloths, embroidered banners, and so much more and not everything has to be matchy-matchy if you want to mix it up a little.

Not only was everything beautifully made, but all of the pink cupcake frosting washed out so Baby C was able to wear it for her 1 year photo shoot, {which you’ll see is coming in a Birthday Bash post soon} and she can wear it until she outgrows it, after all she’ll be one for a year! I encourage you to check out Boogie Boutique’s shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/boogieboutique and look for your child’s next holiday gear.

The End!

Birthday Bash – HET Designs by Rachael

Yesterday I talked a little about Birthday party themes and to follow suit I have to show off a great Do-It-Yourself Printable site: HET Designs by Rachael. Like a lot of my favorite products, Rachael has an Etsy site to show off and sell her work.

She created the perfect designs to go with the, “Look Whoo’s One” theme and once I saw it I knew it would be perfect to accent Baby C’s birthday bash. I used her tags all over the place, well except for on Baby C, I spared her. But I used the cute brown and polka dot water bottle labels:

Also I printed and punched out the Cupcake Toppers, added stir sticks and voila, they became a great accent for the cake pop centerpiece:

And of course my favorite, the amazing banner that we hung over the mantle and above the Artsy Canvas Girl photo cards:

The pictures definitely do not do these cute customized printables justice, but you can see them up close on Rachael’s website www.etsy.com/store/hetdesignsbyrachael and check her out on Facebook too. She has great prices on her printables and makes it super easy to just click and print. All you have to supply is the printer {with ink} and standard card stock and you’ll have your very own decorations to use for a single occasion or use for every party, it’s up to you.

Birthday Bash – Choosing a Theme

Coming up with a party theme can be trying, especially when you’re looking for the perfect theme for a one-year-old’s party. I don’t know too may one-year-old’s asking their parents for a specific theme for their party, so, it’s left up to good old mom and dad, (and in most cases mom).

More often than not the themes are the number 1 with fun girlie or boyish accents. I love themes for parties, in fact Miss A’s parties have been {in this order}: Bunny party {after her lovey}, Dora/Diego party {she LOVED both of them}, and her last party was a tea-party.

When it came to Baby C I had no clue where to start, so I stumbled upon 1stwishes.com and started browsing through their 1st birthday party supplies.

Things to keep in mind when looking for a party theme in general are:

  • Find something that the child has requested or really likes
  • Pick 1 to 3 colors and create a party from those colors
  • Choose a theme that is attendee friendly (if you’ll have both genders keep this in mind)
  • Consider the location, outdoor, indoor, at a party venue
  • Be proactive and purchase items on sale for the next yearLook Whoo's One Party

Fortunately, after looking for only a little while I found the perfect theme for Baby C’s first birthday. We fell in love with, “Look Whoo’s 1” theme. I loved the adorable girl owls so for the party we bought a few items, dessert plates, mylar balloons, and 2 small stuffed owls.

Along with the “Look Whoo’s 1” theme I decided to compliment the theme with Neapolitan colors, white, pink, and brown. That way I could purchase colored items that were a little more cost efficient and not have overkill with the theme.

Take a look at the cute, “Look Whoo’s 1” items we picked up:

Birthday Bash – Artsy Canvas Girl

Happy May Day! Ready for a Birthday? How about a Birthday Bash?? Today marks the first day of the MommyB Knows Best Birthday Bash and I’m excited to introduce you to Artsy Canvas Girl. When I first stumbled upon Kathy’s work I was very impressed at the way she manipulated the photos, using texture, colors, and words to enhance your average photo.

Kathy at Artsy Canvas Girl created a beautiful pink, brown, and white inspired owl banner collection of prints for Baby C’s birthday party. I sent her 12 photos from the different months of Baby C’s first year and gave her free reign on the photo cards. This is what she came up with:

Baby C Birthday Banner

Isn’t it absolutely adorable? I ended up putting them in chronological order before the party started. I opted to place them on the mantle right under Baby C’s “Happy Birthday Banner” however these would also look great strung together. Check out the great attention to deal here in a couple of close ups Kathy created (feel free to, “ooooh” and “ahhh.”:

Juice in the City Modern Salon and Spa Discount

Modern Salon SpaIf you love Modern Salon & Spa in the Charlotte {and surrounding areas} or have been dying to try out their services, Juice in the City has a great deal going on today that you just have to take advantage of. Modern Salon is a highly regarded salon and spa in the area and has an amazing reputation.

I hadn’t had anything done to my hair in quite a while and coincidentally, I got my hair cut and highlighted at Modern Salon in Birkdale two weeks ago. My first and so far only experience with this salon was nothing less than great and the service from the staff was right up there, not to mention that Modern is an Aveda based salon so they get brownie points.

I have also heard rave reviews from other moms-in-the-know throughout Charlotte that the other Modern Salon and Spa locations can tout the same outstanding service. Not to mention that they have also been featured in several “best-of-the-best” lists and it’s no surprise why.

For today’s Juicy Deal, you pay only $12 for $25 worth of services at 2 Modern Salon and Spa locations (Ballantyne Village and Phillips Place). What an amazing deal! I’m getting mine, how about you? Click here to sign up for a free account and purchase your discounted gift card. Get one for yourself or pick one up as a gift for your friend or favorite blogger *wink, wink.

Business2Blogger – Product Review 101

Business2Blogger LogoAs you read my regular posts, especially my review posts you may be thinking one of two things.

“Hey, I can do that, it’d be so much fun to review products and services, but I just don’t know how to get connected with companies.”

or

“I run a company and I’d love for more bloggers to write about my products but don’t know how to reach them all without having to email several bloggers.”

I have to say that among all of the places I get pitches from that Business2Blogger has been the easiest to find product reviews. Business2Blogger sends me an email every time they have a great groping of offers for bloggers. I’m not getting 50 emails a day from them and the jobs that they email are easy to determine if I’m a good fit because they list things like blog genre, monthly visitors, areas, and even post by dates on some jobs.

If I were a company I would LOVE Business2Blogger because they have great writers who are all located in one place. No searching through a database, only the qualified bloggers respond with their stats and you as a company can go through the responses and see who’s perfect for your pitch.

Whether you’re a company or an aspiring or working blogger, Business2Blogger is a service I’d highly recommend to anyone I know. Go check it out for yourself, several different options for Bloggers (no money involved) and different ad options for Businesses as well.

Do you currently use Business2Blogger? What do you think?

I wrote this post to be entered to win an iPad 2, however I fully believe that Business2Blogger is a great program and currently use it for my posts. I wouldn’t tell you about a great product if I didn’t believe in it. But some opinions may vary.

Sweet Dreams Fund: Children In Need

Sweet Dreams Fund

There are often issues in life that, luckily, we do not have to worry about. When devastation strikes parts of the globe often times it makes us realize the great things we have, at least for a moment. More often than not, that realization lasts only but a moment, and just as the prayers and funds slowly come to an end, so do our thoughts to those effected, and our gratitude for our own safety and families. There are horrible things happening to people all over the world on a daily basis. These are the moments we need to remember how blessed we really are.

April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month and in light of such a tragedy The Sweet Dreams Fund was set up at TellingDad.com and is spreading the word about this great program that will provide young children of abuse with some comforting items once they enter shelters. Obviously nothing can take the place of the hurt and damage that will stay with them, but these gestures will hopefully allow them to take their mind off what has been normal life for them.

The Sweet Dreams Fund, with our help, is giving out teddy bears, coloring books, and crayons to these dear little angels. TellingDad.com is asking for $1.11 per pledge. Any bit helps and when it comes to a great a cause as this. I hope that many of you will find that the smile on the children’s faces will be worth much more than a dollar, eleven cents. That’s my hope at least.

Child abuse strikes very close to my own heart and there was no way I could not donate, however I wanted to write this post in hopes that some of you, while you may not have experienced abuse yourself, seen it in your own family, or hometown, will understand what a great cause The Sweet Dreams Fund is to be reaching out to these injured children.

So won’t you please, head on over to TellingDad.com’s campaign here: http://www.tellingdad.com/111-campaign/ and make your donation. Be sure to spread the word, the more funds received the more children that can be reached. It really does take a village to raise a child, but the best village is that of caring, loving people.

BradsDeals.com Review

BradsDeals.com LogoI know I have a bunch of you super-savvy coupon-clipping awesome mommies who follow me. And in all honest I aspire to be you, it’ just falls by the way-side when it come to me making time to clip coupons. So, I applaud you for your money saving prowess. I on the other hand use a couple of coupons per grocery trip and search for discount codes before I buy anything online. That counts right??

Recently I heard about BradsDeals.com. BradsDeals is a good mix between printable coupons, which some of you live for, online coupons and internet deals too! I like that it has a wide audience and the site even makes me want to reconsider trying to be a “couponer” again, but only for a few seconds *LOL*

BradsDeals have bargains for some of my favorite shops including, but not limited to Overstock.com, where I’ve bought some new and refurbished items from, The Children’s Place, for obvious reasons, although it always seems like I need to buy one clothing size up when I shop here (anyone else have that issue), and SitterCity, which is where a ton of my awesome mom friends have found great babysitters and pet sitters.
