Custom Phone and Tablet Cases by CVS/pharmacy – Discount

CVS Phone Cases

Happy Thursday everyone!! I can’t believe this week is almost over, but before it is, I wanted to write you about CVS/pharmacy’s new custom phone and tablet cases, for two reasons.

1. Because I got a sample and it’s so cool I had to share

2. There’s a discount going on right now, but only for a few more days!

Being one of a million Jennifer’s when I get the chance to personalize things I do. From gifts to other people, my girls room decor, clothing, and almost anything I can “snazz-up”. This holds true for my websites too. I love to market my sites when I can because I’m proud of all the work I’ve done and blessed to be where I am in my career. So, even though it was hard for me to choose between featuring pics of my girls or customize for work, I chose to feature my websites. (** After seeing the results though, I think I may ask for one with my kiddos on it for my birthday, hint hint.)

CVS/pharmacy’s photo lab offers customizing for several different brands including, iPhone, iPad, Kindle, Blackberry, Samsung, and the list goes on.

CVS Phone Cases

Choosing images for this project was the most difficult part of the process, the rest was made super easy with a user friendly, step-by-step online program.

CVS 3 Steps

CVS/pharmacy made it easy for me to choose from different photo layouts, for my iPhone 4 I could choose 1, 2, or 3 photos and also for my specific model I was able to choose between a few different case styles. I love that I could choose the placement of my images, and easily move my uploaded images around.

CVS Case Customize

I chose the iPhone Vibe case since it seemed like the more durable choice. CVS/pharmacy ships your case at no additional cost to the CVS location of your choice, making it easy to pick up during your other CVS/pharmacy related errands. I love the smooth finish, and the quality of the photos on my phone case turned out great. The case fits my phone very well and definitely seems like it will hold up to being shuffled around in my diaper bag. I am very pleased with the results and think this would make a great, personalized gift as well.

Here’s mine (ignore the iPhone flash glare):

MommyBKnowsBest Personalize Phone Case

Cases range in price starting at $34.99, and like I mentioned at the beginning of the post, CVS/pharmacy has a great deal on their website for 25% off. Head over to http://www.cvsphoto.com/phone-and-tablet-cases , add your customized phone or tablet case(s) to your shopping cart and upon check out enter the discount code: CASE25 Please note that this promotion ends 9/8/12 so you only have a couple of days to take advantage of this deal.

One big tip for creating your case would be to make sure you use high res images, the better the quality of the original pictures, the better the quality of your case.

My only wish is that someone would create an even more durable personalized phone case, maybe something made of armor, I’m so nervous my phone will get damaged.

What images would you use for your personalized case?

I received a complimentary phone case from CVS/pharmacy in order to test out the product and give you my honest opinions about the product. Besides, how else can I tell you about it if I don’t experience it myself? Your opinions may vary unless you design your phone exactly like mine to advertise my sites. {Just kidding!!!}

Back To School Trend – Gutzy Gear

Looking for a great way to personalize your child’s school gear now that it’s Back To School Time? I know my daughter and many of her friends attend schools where they don’t allow characters on their backpack, clothing, lunch boxes or drink cups. While I completely understand their reasoning for that specific rule I definitely want to find ways for Miss A to express herself in a positive, fun way. She can do exactly that with Gutzy Gear.

Gutzy Gear are basically detachable velcro straps that attach to your child’s backpack. The great thing about the straps is that they are the perfect foundation for Gutzy Gear Gutzies {aka velcro patches}. Gutzies come in so many different styles, for girls and boys, and cater to each child’s personality. We had a variety of children at our Gutzy Gear party #GettinGutzy, and every child left happy.

MommyBKnowsBest Gutzy Gear Party

I really like the fact that Gutzy Gear is interchangeable, easy to remove AND clean, and fun for my kids. My only worry is the wear-and-tear of the product which I can only find out after a few months of use, I’ll keep you posted on that front.

Gutzy Gear Backpack Straps are $9.99 retail and Gutzies come in a pack of 2 and range in price from $4.99 to $5.99. Gutzy Gear products can be purchased at Kmart, Office Depot, Shop Rite, Target, Toys ‘R Us, Wal-Mart and online.

Do you want to Get Your Gutzy On?!?! Check out Gutzy Gear’s website: http://www.gutzygear.com/, also between now and September 7th, your kids can win 1 of 100 Toys ‘R Us gift cards, worth more than $5000 by showing how you “go gutzy”! Head over to www.facebook.com/gutzygear to participate and upload your photos.

What Gutzy Gear products would be your kiddo’s favorites??

As a member of MomSelect I was given the opportunity to host a Gutzy Gear party and invite all my friends to try Gutzy Gear products.

Count Me Healthy Bracelets

This just in…”Mommy Brain” is now the largest pandemic in new and seasoned mothers. Symptoms have been known to elevate with addition of children, multiples, lack of sleep, eating any sort of food, leaving the home, or breathing air. Infected mothers may experience loss of brain function. EG: forgetting your conversation mid-sentence, placing non-food items in your refrigerator, looking for your phone when you are ON the phone, forgetting where you dropped the kids off, remembering to thaw dinner, and basically while doing anything in life.

Okay, maybe I got a little carried away, but only a little. I know for me, mommy brain or basically just being busy and having my mind pulled in a million different directions really effects my memory. Because my proverbial plate is pretty full I keep 3 calendars, have a white-board to-do list, purchase birthday cards and gifts in mass amounts, and try to stay proactive, but even with all my efforts to stay on top of the pile there are still things I forget. Personally I hate feeling like the flaky mom, but moreover there are the important things I have missed/forgotten which really eat me up.

One product I recently heard about that will contribute to thwarting the “mommy brain epidemic” are these really cute bracelets called, Count Me Healthy Jewelry.

Count Me Healthy Bracelet

I received a bracelet to try out and was so excited about the concept. Basically, you use the metal balls to count anything like how many cups of water you drink in a day, or to keep track of eating your vegetables. Each bracelet comes with 12 small movable balls, although my bracelet the balls were a little hard to move, but this did make them stay put once I got them to where they should be. I like that the Count Me Healthy bracelets are adjustable to fit any wrist size and that they offer different metals and styles if you’re looking for a gift for a woman who’s not a mom too. I encourage you to check out their website and shop here for a nice treat for yourself or a great gift to help a special woman defend herself against the effects of “Mommy Brain”!!  http://www.countmehealthyjewelry.com

What products or tricks do you use to combat “Mommy Brain”? {Personally, I’d love some tips!!}

I received my very own Count Me Healthy Mommy and Me bracelet in order to give you my honest opinions of the product. This post contains my original words, witty humor, and a little bit of sass, and it’s all mine. Your thoughts and opinions of this product may vary, but I’ll still love you if they do.

Oh My, it’s Carter’s Oh So BIG sale! {CLOSED}

CAR_40x18_ohsobig_ceiling3_sale

Carters Oh So Big Kids SaleThis past weekend I dove into my girls closets and turned into the Tasmanian Devil, no not the one on the nature shows, the one from the cartoons. {Insert mental image here, since I do not have rights to this image.} And if you’re not sure who the Looney Toon’s version of the Tasmanian Devil is; Google, baby.

So picture me getting rid of all of the heavy knits, and thick fleece and being left with a rack of empty hangers minus the one or two dresses and t-shirts that can work for the beautiful spring weather we’ve been having. While Little C ,{yes I did just upgrade her from Baby C, remember this moment in time!} has a few hand-me-downs from Miss A, they’re not quite the same size at the same age, and well, Miss A she has some size 10’s from grandparents finding good deals, but won’t be fitting in those for years.

From the time my girls were itty bitty, we have been gifted or purchased clothes we LOVE at Carter’s children’s clothing stores. Not only do I really like the awesome quality of their clothing, {great for passing down to siblings/family members} but they also have really cute styles to offer. Unlike a lot of children’s stores these days, I appreciate the fact that Carter’s clothes are AGE appropriate, yes people a 4 year old can dress their age, no excuses. Not to mention that Carter’s always offers great coupons and discounts, and I love saving a buck when I can. Speaking of which… their, “Oh So Big Sale” is going on as I type this blog post!

From now through April 24th Carter’s adorable kids gear is up to 60% off online and in-stores. Whether you’re looking for baby girl or baby boy sets for all those baby showers you’ll be attending this spring and summer, little girls tunics and leggings to mix and match for pretty, colorful outfits, or adorable nightgowns {plus more} or something for the boys, Carter’s has some great deals on denim and cute t-shirts too!

Here are a three of my favorites from this awesome Carter’s sale:

Carters Oh So Big Sale Girls Dress

I am a sucker for dresses, thank God for giving me two girls {who also adore them}! I really like this one because it’s pink, frilly, and great for spring AND summer. If white’s not your color Carter’s also has some other adorable dresses in their toddler and big girls sections.

Carters Oh So Big Sale Boy Shirt

Here’s one of my favorite boys t-shirts, not only is it a bright, fun color, perfect for spring, but it’s a cute design without being scary (skulls) or having cartoon characters on it.

I hear from so many moms that most boys clothing only has sports balls on them and you can only have so many of those before you want to pull your hair out {general, not direct quote}. Plus it’s mom-centric, love it!!

Carters Oh So Big Sale Pajamas

Last, but not least, I had to include pajamas. We in the B household are known to have a pajama party or five each month. I also love monkeys, these girl monkeys are so sweet with their bows and bananas. Don’t you agree?

I also love that Carter’s thought about spring weather when they created this set. I know here in Charlotte the weather has been cold one day and hot the next, so we’ve been mixing up pajama sets to facilitate the temperature of our house, it works, it’s not as cute as this set though.

For more information on the Oh So Big Sale, check out Carter’s online: Carters.com website

A Happy Green Life Natural Laundry Wash {Guest Review}

A Happy Green Life Logo

A Happy Green Life LogoDuring the last 1.5 years of my cloth diaper journey, I’ve tried at least five different brands of cloth-safe detergent.

Most recently, thanks to Mommy B, I had the opportunity to try several scents of A Happy Green Life’s natural laundry wash.

A Happy Green Life (AHGL) was started by two moms who cloth diaper their babies. They wanted a detergent that’s safe for the diapers and worked well for their husbands’ uniforms (one husband is a professional chef and the other is in the military).

Their laundry wash is made from naturally occurring chemicals and compounds – sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate and sodium percarbonate. They offer laundry washes scented with synthetic fragrance oils as well scents made with 100% natural essential oils.

Immediately upon opening the package containing the detergent samples, I was overwhelmed by the strong smell, particularly from the synthetic blends. I tend to be somewhat sensitive to strong smells and AHGL’s scents are so strong, they actually made me sneeze when I opened them. Even now, as they sit beside me as I write this review, they are irritating my nose a bit.

Having said that, the scents do smell good – including Monkey Farts, Bite Me, and Lavender Apple. AHGL offers more than 20 scents. My laundry room actually smells fantastic with the detergent sitting in there.

A Happy Green Life Laundry Wash

After washing, my clothes and diapers didn’t seem to retain such a strong scent. Some of the scents I could lightly smell after washing and some I couldn’t smell at all.

What really impressed me about AHGL’s laundry wash is how well it took the chlorine smell out of swimsuits and towels that sat overnight because we forgot to put them in the washer.

One challenge with cloth diapering is that detergent can build up in your diapers and cause stink issues. AHGL seemed to rinse well from our diapers and clothing and got them fairly clean. Stains remained on some diapers that were heavily soiled, but that’s common with most cloth diapers. I haven’t found a detergent yet that takes out all the staining. A quick way to get rid of stains (cloth diapers or any clothing) is to put them out in the sun while they’re wet. You’ll be amazed how well it works!

Like all cloth-friendly detergents, AHGL’s laundry wash does not contain optical brighteners, phosphates or soap.

You can find A Happy Green Life laundry wash and additional products they offer on their website and through select retailers. A 50/100 load bag costs $10, which seems to be on the lower end of what many cloth diaper-safe detergents cost.

Jamie BioAfter a 13+ years PR/communications career, Jamie K. recently took on her most challenging job yet – as a fulltime CFO (chief family officer). Currently, she lives in Alabama with her husband, an officer in the Air

i play. and Green Sprouts Review, Discount, and Giveaway

i play. green sprouts

i play. green sproutsHave you heard about i play., inc.? They are a company local to Asheville, North Carolina {woohoo} offering great kid products like really cool compressed diaper wipes, sweet organic baby clothes, unique toys and more and if you’re looking for a great company that cares about keeping kids healthy inside and out. i play. is it. i play. was founded in the early 80’s and continues to be concerned with protecting both our kiddos and the planet we live on. They pride themselves on researching and early elimination of harmful resources like PVC, BPA and Petroleum from their products.

In fact, here is a list of materials that i play., inc. currently uses on their products:

While there are a lot of fun things on their site I would love to fill my home up with {and just may}, we were able to test out a few things that i play. and Green Sprouts have to offer.

My favorite product that we received was a cute PINK Waterproof Insulated Jacket that is not only adorable, but made with an incredibly soft microfiber that I could rub all day long, so I know it’s comfortable for Baby C’s sensitive skin too. I love the velcro pieces on this jacket that help adjust to your child’s size. My only wish – that they made them in sizes larger than a 4T so Little Miss A could coordinate too.

i play. is also great about having lots of winter separates to add on or remove depending on the temperature and occasion. Check out their full line of outerwear:

Overall I love what i play., inc. is doing with their Green Sprouts and i play. line and can’t wait to see what else is coming up for them. I am definitely eyeing the summer swim and eye wear already!

Peek Away Nursing Kit {Guest Review}

Peek Away Logo

For being such a natural thing, breastfeeding is not always so easy.

On a previous Mommy B guest post, I shared 8 Things No One Told Me About Breastfeeding. It’s been almost four months since I wrote that post, and I still have some challenges.

One thing that has not changed in the nearly seven months I’ve been nursing is the need for a pillow to help position my daughter to my breast. I always use a nursing pillow in the house and a travel version (it’s inflatable) that I leave in the car and take with me as needed.

Even though the pillow is inflatable, it’s not always convenient to tote around, but for me, it’s essential.

Peek Away LogoThat’s why I was very excited when I learned about a product that is a pillow, nursing cover, changing pad and purse – the Peek Away 4 in 1 Essentials Nursing Kit.

The Peek Away is approximately 13 x 6 x 3 ½ inches when it’s folded. It has hooks and a strap that can be attached so you can carry it like a purse. You can also use that strap to secure the pillow around your waist. It also features a nursing cover with a “rounded” collar so you can peek in on babe while he or she is nursing. The pillow unfolds into a changing pad and there is a pocket with a reusable wipe container. There are also two additional pockets you can use for keys, your cell phone, credit cards, etc.

It was designed by a husband and wife who found it was difficult to travel as frequently as they did while conveniently nursing and having the essentials they needed easily accessible.

Overall, I think the design and functionality of the Peek Away is fantastic. What a great idea to have something that you can use for a quick errand or travel (especially air travel) that can function in so many ways.

However, there are several areas that can be improved to make the kit, which retails for about $45, a truly remarkable product.

[badlist]

  • The multi-function strap cannot be used to secure your pillow around your waist since you’re likely
going to use it primarily for the nursing cover. This is really a small detail and in my experience, the
pillow didn’t really move much anyways.
  • The pillow turns into a nice, cushy changing pad although it would be great if it were a tad bit longer.
The integrated wipes container is a fantastic idea, but it needs to be a higher quality plastic as it’s not
    very durable.
  • The fabric used for the newer prints (bright, pink or green floral) is not what you would expect for
a $45 price tag. It’s on the thinner side and in bright light at the right angle, you can see through the
nursing cover. However, it’s lightweight which keeps you and baby cooler. In addition, the stitching on
the kit is inconsistent and doesn’t look polished.

[/badlist]

The owners of Peek Away are aware of the quality concerns with the current kit which are a result of the manufacturer not following the company’s specifications for materials or workmanship.

They are in the process of addressing these concerns and selecting another manufacturer to produce an improved, higher quality product and anticipate having them available in the Fall of 2012.

Peek Away PicturePeek Away is offering an incredible deal on the current lot of the floral kits – 65% off the retail price. You can buy one on their website for only $16.99. At that price, the kit is affordable and while it does have some minor quality issues, it is still functional and could make nursing-on-the-go an easier experience for you and your baby.

Peek Away provided products for this review, however, the opinions expressed are my own and were not influenced in any way.

2 Chix Chicklet Line – Clothing for Kids

Chicklet Ice Cream Shirt

2 Chix

Now you may be familiar with 2 chix from your own experience or from one of my first ever posts here: http://www.mommybknowsbest.com/2-chix/. They are known as a fun line of maternity shirts made mostly for moms, but some for dads too. Well, recently I found out that they not only carry bump-themed gear, but they also carry kids clothing, and it’s just as cute as their other lines.

Of course I had to try them out, especially after I saw that they had this bee shirt:

Queen Bee 2 chix

I am, afterall, MommyB and have a whole bee family on my site. I thought it was appropriate, and the girls loved it, especially Miss A because she goofs around sometimes calling me, “MommyB”.

We also got to try out their “Suh-weet” t-shirt which was a white fabric, and the girls honestly looked adorable in both. The first thing I noticed after I received the shirts was the amazing shirt quality. The fabric was thick and soft too. So many of the kids clothing stores today offer cheap prices but the fabrics are so thin you have to layer so they’re not see-through, or they just don’t hold up. Having two girls, namely Baby C who’ll inevitably end up with hand-me-downs, I have to make sure that their clothes can survive the daily wear-and-tear.

When I saw the fun designs were, “velvety accents”, I must admit I was really skeptical that these t-shirt adornments would soon be ripped off by my washer and dryer. Much to my surprise, {and delight}, the shirts have held up wash after wash. No pilling, the bee and ice cream cone have stayed put, and the shirts have kept their size too.

The shirts are a little pricey for what I would normally buy the girls at $32.00 a shirt, but with the way it holds up and the fun velvet accents as opposed to normal print, I could definitely see this being a decent purchase, especially if it’s going to be handed down to one or more child in the future. Weird to call a shirt, “an investment”, but that is exactly what came to mind.

My one disappointment in 2 Chix Chicklets line: they only make them in size 2T-5 and 2T-6 in organics. I don’t dress the girls identical a lot, but once and a while is cute, {in my opinion}. What’s your opinion? Cute or not???

Chicklet Ice Cream Shirt

Check out 2 chix Chicklet line here: http://www.2chix.com/products/toddler__kids_tees/index.asp and don’t forget they also have maternity clothes for moms and fun shirts for dads, not to mention cute onesies for the wee babes too. Check them out on Facebook too: http://www.facebook.com/2chixMaternity

Little Miss Matched – Fun Clothes for Girls

Little Miss Matched

Little Miss MatchedIn case you’re still looking for stocking stuffers, or really cute presents any time of year, and have a little girl, I highly recommend Little Miss Matched. I recently stumbled upon Little Miss Matched, although I have friends who have known about them for a while.

As I was looking through their website I found some really cute items and thought they would be great for Miss A. They have fun, quirky styles for girls of all ages. Through my searching I also found out that their sock line, which is probably their most popular item, carries socks for babies age 6 months and up, toddlers, girls, women, and even men! Now DaddyB is pretty conservative with his socks so I’m not sure that he’d wear them, but I know my younger sister who is 14 would LOVE some of their styles. I think their city-scape socks are pretty cool.

Whether you’re looking for fun accessories, sock bundles, or even cute clothes I suggest you check out Little Miss Matched, Miss A LOVES her socks, I think mostly because she can express herself even though she is required to wear a uniform to Preschool, and I love it because I don’t have to worry about matching socks when I’m folding laundry!

Little Miss Matched

How much fun right?!?! If you want to check them out head over to Little Miss Matched’s website: http://www.littlemissmatched.com/ and check out their last minute gift ideas and great shipping choices!!

I was able to try out some Little Miss Matched products in order to give my honest thoughts on their products. I was in no way swayed by the company and all the above words and opinions are my own. Your opinions may vary.

Hartstrings – A Great Source for Holiday Outfits

Hartstrings Outfit

Holiday pictures, fun Christmas-themed play dates and parties, and festive family gatherings with two girls in tow always requires a hint of cuteness, and of course the girls themselves are adorable, {don’t you agree?} but it doesn’t hurt to have them dressed in the cutest outfits either.

I must admit being a “girl mom”, I enjoy every second of picking out girly clothes. And I’m glad the girls just go with it, {for now at least}. I know it’s not too far off when the girls will be telling me more what they want to wear and less what I think looks adorable, but while I can dress them, I will.

Hartstrings LogoI recently learned about the online clothing shop Hartstrings, and immediately fell in love with their outfits. If you don’t already know I’m a prude when it comes to my girls especially and I make no apologies, I think little girls should be able to dress their age. Hartstrings clothing is age appropriate, stylish, and high quality.

The price point on the clothes as you can see is much higher than a Children’s Place or Carter’s, however so is the quality and style. If I had to compare Hartstrings to a children’s store I would say the pricing and style come close to Gymboree. Hartstrings, however, has hands down, the best quality children’s clothing I have seen in a while.

You know those flimsy, long sleeved t-shirts that you see and buy at every clothing store? The ones you need to have several layers just to stay warm indoors in? How about the ones that you question whether your child should wear and undershirt because it’s so thin you can see through it? Think of those shirts, and then think of the complete opposite and that is the amazing quality of long sleeved t-shirts you can purchase from Hartstrings.

Hartstrings Necklace ShirtWe not only love the quality AND the cut {not to slim or too long}, but the details of the stitching are great too. The designs they put on their shirts can be very simple or more ornate, I love the range. Also, I can tell from the details, of their clothing{I’m a details gal} that Hartstrings is really proud of the work they put out, and I admire companies like that. Read More
