After getting to try out our very own copy of Hooked On Phonics Learn to Read Preschool edition, I am not surprised in the least bit that Hooked on Phonics is a multi-award winning program. Little Miss A was very excited to be able to sit down and start learning her letters. Although she knows “O” and a few others I was struggling trying to teach her others and found that Hooked on Phonics made it easier for both of us.
The Learn to Read sets are very extensive and come with a variety of materials. In our Pre-K package we received a workbook, reward stickers, flash cards, several reading books, and a fun DVD, not to mention the online resources. I think with all of their materials they’ve definitely covered the bases of learning. Read More
If you haven’t figured it out now there is a whole world of handmade delights, this world is called Etsy.com. In this world you’ll find many fun and exciting purchases. Things you would never dream of making, things you wish you could make, and things you think are just plain cute.
Since Little Miss A has the hair of, well, a baby lion, except much prettier of course. There is no alternative other than to find cute headbands, bows, and hair ties to accentuate her sweet face and keep her hair out of her eyes. Read More
If you’re a fan of the website Etsy.com you have probably seen a number of shops that offer really cute tile pendants, most of them using scrabble pieces as the tile, which I think is a really cute and “green” use for the scrabble pieces. Well, I happened to stumble upon Yum Yum Pendants. I think one of the neatest things about the shop is that they offer personalized pieces. Each piece is handcrafted just for you.
I love that there are many choices of pendants to personalize as well as other great designs without an initial. It was actually really hard to choose just one. Another one of my favorites is pictured above and is beautiful for Valentines Day, or even just to give to someone you love. Read More

Little Miss A and I couldn’t help but bop around our house listening and watching the materials from Readeez. There were even points in the songs where Miss A took out her inflatable guitar to rock along with the quirky songs.
I love Readeez because they remind me a little of the band They Might Be Giants’ style , if you don’t know who they are then stop reading my blog! No seriously TMBG is probably best known by parents because they are featured on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Higglytown Heroes, and Courage the Cowardly Dog. Although they have some pretty awesome adult hits as well. Read More

The story of Saint Nicholas comes to life in this fun Veggie Tales movie: Saint Nicholas: A Story of Joyful Giving. From start to finish this film was a great movie on so many levels.
As holiday cheer is spreading through the town, everyone is excited about their own Christmas plans and gifts. Unfortunately, Laura the Carrot and her family may not have a Christmas at all. All of the Veggies try to think of ideas to help out, but Bob the Tomato, in usual Veggie Tales fashion has a great lesson/story to share. So off Bob and Larry go “back in time,” to tell the story of Saint Nicholas.
I was very interested to see how this animated film aligned with the history of Saint Nick. I had never heard the full story myself, only bits and pieces so it was very interesting for me to watch and learn. Plus it’s always great to learn about other cultures and their versions of Santa. Read More
