I Count on Carter’s because Quality Matters {Giveaway}

Does your child have a special lovey or a favorite outfit that they adore?? For us, Miss A has, “bunny”. Bunny is Miss A’s best friend. Bunny has been with A before she was born and she still sleeps with bunny too. Miss A has taken Bunny on some special trips, doctor’s visits, and even her first haircut.

A Haircut Bunny

Miss A loves Bunny so much that her first birthday party theme was based on her bunny AND we ordered a cake that looked just like her.

Bunny Cake Collage MommyBKnowsBest

In fact, I still remember the day I bought Bunny at a local Carter’s store. In fact, I bought two bunnies because another mom I know recommended that we have more than one lovey in case one was in the wash or we lose one, {which I always recommend to other moms now too}.

Just as we’ve been able to count on Bunny to be there when there are bumps, scary situations, and to help Miss A sleep, we’ve counted on Carters for well-made clothes that last, adorable styles and fun fashion, great varieties of pieces to mix-and-match, and affordable prices {not to mention awesome sales.}

Childhood. It’s chock-full of the unexpected. But, from their first cry to their first class, there are certain truths every parent can count on…for example, socks will come and go…but mostly…they’ll go. They love swimming, but hate baths. On any given day, she’ll have more wardrobe changes than a Broadway musical. There are just some things you can always count on. And, thankfully, Carter’s is one of them.

Being a mom is one of the most rewarding experiences. Be among the first to see the digital premiere of Carter’s latest TV commercial, and click share if you agree that when a child is born, so is a mom. Click here: Count on Carter’s to watch the commercial {and have tissues at the ready, if you’re anything like me you’ll need them.}

It’s no surprise that since our girls have grown up with Carter’s products, including some adorable outfits, that we’ll be shopping at Carter’s for their holiday dresses. We love shopping at Carter’s because our girls can both get something to wear that will match or compliment and work great for our Christmas photo {too bad they don’t have mommy and daddy sized clothes.}

Here are some of my favorite pieces from Carter’s Holiday line:

This is most likely the dress I’ll get them, but it’s so hard to choose. Isn’t it sweet?!?

Carter's Red Holiday Dress

and you can’t forget super cute accessories to go with those pretty outfits, like these velvet bows:

I didn’t want to leave the boys out either, although I don’t have one they have some adorable pieces to complete the perfectly styled little guy. See!!

Carter's Holiday Boys outfits

Just in time for the holidays, Carter’s is excited to introduce their new holiday rewards program for in-store purchases. Earn a $10 holiday rewards card for every $50 you spend in store. The $10 reward is printed on the bottom of your receipt. To redeem, the coupon must not be detached from the original receipt. This limited time offer is a great way to shop and save this holiday season. Reward can be redeemed through December 29, 2012.

Find a Carter’s Store near you: Carters.com to get your shop on and “Like” Carter’s on Facebook/follow Carter’s on Twitter to discover the latest great deals, exclusive events and offers for your little ones!

In honor of this awesome sale I’m giving one lucky MommyB Knows Best reader a chance to win a $50 Carter’s Gift Card to shop for some great holiday clothes, fill in some wardrobe necessities, or even give away as a gift to a friend or family member. Good luck and enter here:

How to Throw an Adult Ice Cream Party {Giveaway}

Blue Bunny Ice Cream Collage

This summer I hosted an extremely fun back-to-school ice cream party for the kiddos, and it was an amazing success. I am the type of person that loves get-togethers anyway, so any reason to hang out with good friends is a good reason.

How to Throw an Adult Ice Cream Party

After the party I kept thinking how much fun it would be to have another ice cream social, but for just the adults. Really, the best way to dress up a typical ice cream party and make it more adult friendly is to change up the flavors.

First, choose “grown up” flavors that are a good blend of decadent and delicious. Make sure you feature a variety of flavors, so you please different palates of those who are attending your party.

If you took original ice cream flavors like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and made them grow up they would probably turn into, Blue Bunny’s Premium flavors: Red Carpet Red Velvet Cake™, Dulce De Leche, Cup O’ Coffee Cake™, and of course Double Strawberry. All tastes that are mature, but fun, and {because Blue Bunny uses quality ingredients} full of creamy goodness.

After choosing your ice cream base flavors, consider your dessert “vessel” {if you will}. When it comes to an adult ice cream party think outside the cone. Purchase waffle cone bowls or go a little chic using martini glasses, or even consider serving small balls of ice cream as ice cream fondue with scrumptious toppings to go with!

Speaking of toppings, my last tip for how to throw an amazing adult ice cream party is the toppings!! Let’s get creative here folks. Think fresh, think a little on the expensive side {and if you can’t go $$ fake it}, and think big!!!

Here are some adult toppings that I strongly suggest adding to your ice cream bar:

  • Macadamia or another “exotic” nut
  • Premium chocolates, shaved or broken into bits
  • Fresh fruits like dragon fruit, mango, pomegranate, or lychee
  • Cultural foods including Mochi {a gummy rice based treat}, or perhaps a drizzle of Vegemite
  • Plants, that’s right I said it. Consider buying or growing fresh mint and lavender and adding them to your frozen treat

Now that you’re ready to host your adult ice cream soiree, pick some great friends, a nice setting, and have a flavor-filled night!! Here’s your chance to win some ice cream for your very own party. One lucky MommyBKnowsBest.com reader will win 5 Blue Bunny Bucks, to spend on whichever (5) Blue Bunny Treats your heart desires.

Thank you Blue Bunny for the treats in order to host this soiree. I am not an official spokesperson for Blue Bunny, however if I could wear a bunny suit I would sign up immediately. I write about Blue Bunny because I like their products, and hopefully my posts reflect that sentiment. Please know that the above words and images are my own honest thoughts, yours may vary, but it’s doubtful.

Disney On Ice Presents: Worlds of Fantasy come to Charlotte {Giveaway – CLOSED}

D29 Character Logo I remember the cool air and trying to contain my excitement as the music began and having one of the most memorable experiences of my childhood when I watched my very first children’s ice show.

I am always amazed at the amount of work that goes into making these shows seem so effortless. From the staging, lighting, and music, to production, crew, and the talent. I love seeing the great display of athleticism in these shows and really am impressed.

I look forward to my girls seeing their favorite Disney characters in action. I fully expect a lot of, “ooohs” and “ahhhs” to come from their little mouths and hoping that it will be as memorable a night for them as it was for me when I was their age.

Food Lion’s Frugal Cook-Off {Giveaway}

Food Lion Frugal Cook-Off

Recently I was invited to a local Food Lion event, the Food Lion Frugal Cook-Off Challenge, yes, me, the blogger who has a “Fecipe” section, meaning fake recipes. I am obviously not a foodie blogger, but I am a real mom, who cooks at home. My meals may not always be fancy, but I try to give my girls a well-balanced, home-cooked meal often.

Before this event I had shopped at my local Food Lion a few times, so I was excited to learn more about the brand, and also see some bloggers I knew and meet some new ones too.

I learned a ton about Food Lion, including the fact that they’ve recently done a lot to improve their stores, product, and prices. In fact, Food Lion has lowered over 6,000 prices in stores. They’ve also focused their efforts on selling fresher produce, and providing a better shopping experience. Have you noticed??

Interesting facts that I learned that may surprise you too {or not}:

Food Lion’s home state is North Carolina. They offer 4 exclusive food brands including; their namesake Food Lion brand, My Essentials, Nature’s Place, and Taste of Inspiration. Food Lion also gives back to the community with their Operation Grocery Drop, allowing their Facebook fans to nominate their neighborhood to win Food Lion products and donating food to several charities. {Learn anything new?}

Operation Grocery Drop Food Lion

Here are some pictures from the event:

Food Lion Frugal Cook-Off

I had the awesome opportunity to cook with some two amazing bloggers, Andria of Queen City Kitchen, and Julie of Willow Bird Baking. God decided that I might need a little help, so he put me with a team that I could assist on, rather than lead. We made a delicious chicken parmisan, {everyone loves chicken parm right?!?} The judges loved Andria’s sauce, and so did I. We made an amazing team and even though we didn’t win we had a blast figuring out how to stay within our budget, and use a good mix of Food Lion brand foods, both dry and fresh produce.

If you were in the challenge what would you have made?? Here’s your chance to win some Food Lion bucks so you can create whatever food masterpieces  you want! MommyBKnowsBest is giving one lucky reader a chance to win a $100 Food Lion Gift Card. Enter here:

Announcing: Britax G3 Convertible Car Seat Line {Giveaway – CLOSED}

When other parents ask me my advice on car seats, I always tell them how much I love the Britax brand the best. To me, Britax is the number one brand for it’s safety, comfortability and durability.

Britax Logo

There are many different factors parents have to keep in mind as they purchase a new car seat for their child:

  • Safety – hopefully being number one
  • Size – this is very important if you have a smaller vehicle especially
  • Design – may be gender based, style based, or to match your own vehicle
  • Price – as a parent having a price range in mind as you shop can hel

Safety – Recently Britax launched a new car seat line, their G3 Convertible Car Seat series. All five Britax G3 Convertible car seat models provide safety features that are visible and clearly labeled. and offer 360 degrees of protection.

Look for the new BRITAX HUGS™ with SafeCell Technology®, side impact protection, base with SafeCell Technology®, energy absorbing Versa-Tether®, and integrated steel bars. The ADVOCATE® 70- G3, PAVILION® 70-G3 and BOULEVARD® 70-G3 feature new BRITAX HUGS™ Chest Pads with SafeCell Technology®. These chest pads are affixed to the back of the car seat shell to ensure that they are properly positioned on the buckled child. SafeCell padding on the chest pads, identified by a honeycomb design, is engineered to compress to manage energy and create best-in-class resistance to the forward movement of a child.

All of the newly updated BRITAX convertible car seats continue to offer revolutionary safety features that are easy to see. For instance, all seats have a rigid shell with deep side walls that are lined with energy-absorbing foam to provide side impact protection. The ADVOCATE 70-G3, PAVILION 70-G3 and BOULEVARD 70-G3 offer a second layer of protection with energy-absorbing foam in the True Side Impact Protection head restraint that keeps the head, neck and spine aligned. Finally, the ADVOCATE 70-G3 includes Side Impact Cushion Technology®, a third layer of protection, with black energy-absorbing cushions on the child seat’s exterior to reduce side impact energy by diverting 45 percent of the crash forces away from the seated child.

Britax Advocate 70 G3

These cushions also provide extra protection for the adjacent passenger. Additional visible features can be found on all updated BRITAX convertible car seats. Check inside the open-style base for honeycomb-shaped SafeCell Technology®, designed to compress in a crash, significantly lowering the center of gravity and counteracting the forward rotation of the child seat. Look on the outside of the seat for integrated steel bars that strengthen the seat’s connection to the vehicle and

Also, all the enhanced models have new labeling to identify BRITAX’s Energy Absorbing Versa-Tether. The patented 2-point top tether with staged-release webbing anchors the top of the car seat to the vehicle and slows forward movement, reducing crash forces. These features, along with the side impact technologies, provide 360-degree protection for the child occupant.

In addition to the innovative safety features, BRITAX has designed a new convenience feature. The EZ-Buckle System keeps the buckle in a convenient, easy-to- reach forward position, making boarding a child faster and simpler. It can be found on the ADVOCATE 70-G3, PAVILION 70-G3 and BOULEVARD 70-G3 as well as the BRITAX ADVOCATE 70-G3, PAVILION 70-G3, BOULEVARD 70-G3 and MARATHON 70-G3 convertible car seats can be used rear facing up to 40 pounds and forward facing up to 70 pounds.

Size & Design – Britax car seats come in various sizes and weight limits to fit both your child and your vehicle. There are honestly so many styles that browsing through them will be half the fun of the purchase. I also enjoy that Britax, unlike a fair amount of car seat companies, does offer a wide selection of car seat designs. Having two girls I really love the Azalea and Sophia styles.

Britax Advocate 70 G3

Price – Last on our list, price. Typically, Britax car seats are known for being on the higher end of the price scale. I do want you to consider the above features, safety, comfortability for your child’s ride (there really is a big difference between other brands, we’ve experienced this ourselves), and also durability. Seeing how well the Britax brand “wears” I can tell that the materials are high quality and we will get our money’s worth with these seats.

Exciting enough, the newly enhanced G3 line is now available at the same price point as their previous models.

BRITAX ADVOCATE 70-G3 (MSRP: $379.99)

PAVILION 70-G3 (MSRP: $339.99)

BOULEVARD 70-G3 (MSRP: $319.99),

MARATHON 70-G3 (MSRP: $289.99)

ROUNDABOUT 55 (MSRP: $199.99).

Back to School Ice Cream Social Tips {CLOSED}

Ice Cream Party

For those of you with school-aged children, some of your kiddos have already had their first day back to school, and some of you have another few weeks before your child starts classes. Miss A starts her first day of Kindergarten next Monday {wowzers!} and so we thought what better way to get excited about heading to school than a party!

It’s been pretty warm here in Charlotte, North Carolina this summer and we love Blue Bunny products, so we figured what better way to celebrate with our friends than a Back to School Ice Cream Social!

Ice Cream Party

Here are some tips to make your Back to School {or anytime} Ice Cream Social a success:

1. Purchase a few different flavors of ice cream. This allows variety for your guests to choose from. I recommend sticking with classics, or adding a little twist. {We enjoyed Blue Bunny’s Homemade Vanilla & Chocolate Swirl, Double Strawberry, and their Sweet & Salty Pretzel.}

2. Mix between processed and fresh toppings. When it comes to what my girls are eating I try to be mindful of giving them a good mix between healthy foods and treats.  I traded strawberry spread topping for fresh strawberries, and also cut up some banana slices, but of course kept the rainbow sprinkles and chocolate/carmel sauces as well {for mommy’s sweet tooth, er good measure}

3. Wait to set the ice cream out until the very last moment. Wait as long as you can to put the ice cream out onto the tables to keep them as cool as possible. On extremely hot days consider putting them in a bucket of ice and displaying them while keeping them chilled.

4. Water play equals clean kids. On a hot day it’s always a good idea to have something besides ice cream to cool the kids down, plus the water acts as an added cleaning agent after you’ve washed hands and faces. We chose a water table, kiddie pool and water slide and the kids were loving it!

Back to School Ice Cream Social Water Play

5. Don’t forget to ask about food allergies. Some ice creams and toppings are processed in a plant with nuts, contain egg, wheat, soy, etc that some of your guests may be allergic to. It’s always nice to check before you buy the supplies.

6. Have fun!!! Enjoy the last few days of summer with great people in your life and celebrate!!

Fun right?!?!?! Head over to Blue Bunny’s website and check out some of their awesome new flavors, or pick out your favorites for an upcoming party at http://www.bluebunny.com/

MommyB Celebrates National Ice Cream Day with Friends & Blue Bunny {Giveaway -CLOSED}

Champ_Mini_Swirls_Birthday_Party_Ice_Cream_Cones.s2v1

I love celebrating anything, whether it’s my younger sibling’s good grades, to Miss A being brave enough to dunk her head in the pool, the biggest or the smallest successes and accomplishments are what life is all about, so why not celebrate?!?! And while we’re at it, sometimes we’ll enjoy a birthday weekend filled with 3 days of fun or even party a little early, which is exactly what we did today.

Blue Bunny Pool Party

Little known fact: In 1984 Ronald Reagan declared July National Ice Cream MONTH, and this Sunday, July 15th, is National Ice Cream DAY. Big thanks to “The Gipper” for making my month a yummy one!

In honor of National Ice Cream Day, what better event to celebrate than at a fun-filled pool play date. We were a little worried that the dark clouds would hang out all day , but the sun came out and the temperature rose post-haste.

After a yummy lunch I broke out Blue Bunny’s adorable, Champ!® Mini Swirls Birthday Party Ice Cream Cones. Tah-Dah:

Champ_Mini_Swirls_Birthday_Party_Ice_Cream_Cones.s2v1

Immediately I felt like the Ice Cream man {without a truck of course}. All the kiddos {and most of the moms too} were running straight for me, as if something in their brains signaled when I pulled the first ice cream cone out of the box. Three words: Ice-Cream-Radar. Look at these ice-cream lovin’ kids:

Champs Mini Kids

Not only were these icy, sweet snacks perfect because we needed to cool off, but they are a GREAT size for little hands and mouths too. One mom said she didn’t feel so guilty eating one because of it’s size, although I must admit, today proved hard to stop at just one  Champ!®.

Blue Bunny’s Champ!® Ice Cream Cones come in different sizes and flavors, but we especially loved the Mini Swirls Birthday Party and Chocolate versions. They were such a creamy and a nice treat for our party. Want some of your own to celebrate National Ice Cream Month? I’m giving one lucky reader 5 Blue Bunny Bucks that will buy you 5 Blue Bunny Treats. You can buy lots of different Champ!® Ice Cream Cones, five boxes of The Original Bomb Pop®, or mix-and-match. Red, White, and YUMMY! – A Patriotic Summer Treat Giveaway {CLOSED}

It seems like the past few weeks have been filled with red, white, and blue for my family. First we had Miss A’s Cat in the Hat birthday party with red and white from Cat’s hat and blue from Thing 1 and Thing 2’s hair. When we went shopping for decorations the party store had a couple of aisles solely dedicated to the three patriotic colors, it was pretty cool.

A couple of weeks ago we were invited to a Memorial Day gathering with some great friends. As usual we try to bring something to parties with us and this time we figured that Blue Bunny’s Bomb Pop® {The Original} would be fitting since they are red, white, and blue. Not only were they a hit among kiddos and adults, but they were refreshing after a yummy meal. {DaddyB even had one on the drive home!!}

Here are a few pictures from our Memorial Day fun:

Blue Bunny Bomb Pop

I know with 4th of July coming up people are going to be putting hints of red, white, and blue everywhere including the menu. If you want to find something festive, easy, and that everyone will love {even the kiddos with peanut allergies!!} I recommend Blue Bunny’s Bomb Pop® {The Original} or for summer parties in general Blue Bunny has a few different flavored Bomb Pop®s pretty cool!!

Summer Pest Control Tips {Giveaway Closed}

Amdro Ant Block Home Perimeter Ant Bait 24oz

Everyone loves the summer, watching butterflies flutter around, catching lightening bugs in the dark, hearing the crickets chirping at night. What we don’t love however are home invasions, by any little critters including ants.

You remember the fact that we had a very mild winter this year? Well, it was nice not having massive amounts of snow or ice, but that now means that insect activity is occurring two to four weeks earlier this year. This means there is an even greater chance that homes and landscapes will be infested this summer by problem pests, such as Argentine ants and carpenter ants.

What’s a family to do though?? My first thought? Check out AMDRO® Ant Block® Home Perimeter Ant Bait, it terminates a wide range of ant species around the perimeter of your home keeping them outside, where they belong.

{Find them at Facebook and Twitter}

Amdro Ant Block Home Perimeter Ant Bait 24oz

I don’t mind ants as much as other insects but I feel like as soon as there is one ant in your home, you turn around and there are colonies! {I know very little about insects themselves and am not a professional, just my humble observations.}

  • AMDRO® Ant Block® Home Perimeter Ant Bait is highly attractive to 15 different ant species, {did you even know there were that many?} killing 50 percent more species of ants than Spectracide® Ant Shield® Home Barrier Granules.* *Compared to EPA labels published as of May 9, 2012.
  • Following application, AMDRO® Ant Block® Home Perimeter Ant Bait works within two to four weeks, killing the queen and the ants in the colony.
By using AMDRO® Ant Block® Home Perimeter Ant Bait you’ll probably save yourself some time you could spend doing other things like shopping, eating out, or going to parties this summer. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a little extra spending money?? I’m giving away a $50 gift card to one lucky winner to use on anything they wish.

How to Win

Mandatory Entry {must be done first in order to get additional entries}: Tell me what insect you would prefer outside rather than in your home.

Great MOEments Built on Traditions {Giveaway – CLOSED}

Moe's Southwest Grill Leftovers

Birthdays have ALWAYS been special for me, whether it’s been my birthday growing up, friends birthdays, but now that I have children their birthdays totally take presidence over everything else. For the spring months I go into “birthday mode” {have you ever done that?!?}.

You may have seen my post on one of the crafts I made for Lil’ C’s birthday, the bumblebee cupcake holder, well Miss A decided that she wanted to have a Dr. Seuss, Cat in the Hat party and so I got started with planning and purchasing right away.

Typically the last thing on my list is food. I typically run around a couple of hours before parties and get everything together and it’s pretty stressful really. So with my super long, “to-do” list, being able to cross one entire section of my list off before the party was a huge relief for me. One less thing to worry about.

Moes Blogger Advisory CouncilThis year, because I am a member of the Moe’s Blogger Advisory Council, I was able to host Miss A’s birthday party and enjoy Moe’s Southwest Grill catering. Honestly, I never even realized they catered and never would have thought about getting a party like this catered, but it was exactly what we needed.

Here are a few pictures from Miss A’s birthday party and our delicious dinner:

Moes Birthday Party

Every single party attendee loved Moe’s. The food was set up quickly while we played, was warm, and let me tell you there was SO much food, we had leftovers for days!!! No kidding see:

Moe's Southwest Grill Leftovers

Our friends were so excited to have dinner, especially those who had to attend events after the party. We heard so many compliments on the food, and when DaddyB and I finally got to eat, it was delicious as usual. Thanks so much Moe’s for the awesome treat. I can’t wait to see who of our friends caters their next party!!

Because I love Moe’s so much I am hosting a Moe’s Southwest Grill Gift Card giveaway!! But first I need to fill you in on something. Moe’s has officially announced their, “Raise the Salsa Bar” contest, but I have been given the o.k. to share the details here with my loyal readers.
