New and Improved Moon Dough

Moon Dough Logo

Moon Dough Logo Hip, hip hooray for a new Moon Dough formula. Truth be told I can COMPLETELY tell the difference. DaddyB bought some of the old formula Moon Dough at CVS because it was on sale and it was so hard to hold onto and mold because it was very crumbly, definitely not fun to play with from my perspective or Miss A’s.

This new Moon Dough however, I have to tell you, is a huge step in the right direction. It holds together so much better which makes molding it to the shapes you want, with or without the included mold much easier. Not to mention that Miss A noticed the weird smell of the old Moon Dough, whereas this new formula, completely odor-free.

New and Improved Moon Dough

We were able to try the really cute Push N’ Pop Breakfast Moon Dough kit. It comes with 2 different colored packs of Moon Dough, 3 really cool push molds, {super easy even for Baby C, who’s 18 months – although not recommended for children under 3}, a fun breakfast plate inspired play mat, and 1 traditional twist mold and it retails for $9.99 so it’s an awesome deal if you ask me, perfect for gift giving and small enough to travel with.

We even took this with us when we went to Nana’s house in New York over Labor Day weekend, and weren’t worried about it getting into the carpet or making a huge mess all over the table.

I loved playing with Miss A and making lots of pancakes with syrup and butter, french toast and waffles for breakfast, yum. At first I wished the colors were closer to the colors of the food, but then I realized that Baby C and other kids may be enticed to eat them even more, so I’m just fine with red pancakes, really.

Here are a few more pictures of us using the set, we get it out often and sometimes even more than our Play-doh because there’s a lot less clean up. And to be brutally honest, this may take over our Play-Doh collection once every canister of it drys up. Yet another cool fact about Moon Dough, it NEVER dries out, never. They just may be onto something.

Moon Dough New and Improved

Moon Dough Push 'N Pop Breakfast

Aside from our Moon Dough Push N’ Pop Breakfast kit, Moon Dough also has Push N’ Pop Ocean Pals, and Moon Dough Snack Shop and can be found at Toys ‘R Us, Target, Walmart, Kmart, Amazon.com, A.C. Moore, Michaels, and eToys. If you want to find out about their other products, {because with this new formula you’ll want to stock up on different molds and play sets} go to http://www.moondough.com

I received the Moon Dough Push N’ Pop Breakfast kit through my affiliation with Team Mom and Child’s Play Communications in order to give an honest review of this product. The opinions expressed in this review are my own, not influenced by any outside sources except by the input of my assistant tester Miss A, my 4 year-old daughter.

Discovery Place Kids – Can Can’s Masquerade

Baby C Dress Up

Above ALL else, my girls favorite activity for play time is playing dress up. No matter if it’s trying on fancy dresses and shiny, plastic jewelry, or wearing their favorite character costumes, they could play dress up all day long. They have danced, ran errands with me, and even eaten in their dress up clothes, and if I would allow it I’m sure they would have slept in them, tiara and all, {ouch!}.

Readeez Volume Three {Guest Post}

Readeez LogoLast weekend I tried out a new learning tool for my 4-yr old son, Jeremy. Jer is the kind of kid who devours books and has an appetite for learning that rivals even my nerdiest days in high school. So needless to say – I was really excited when MommyB invited me to do a guest review on Readeez.

When I brought the mail in – my son immediately gravitated to the fun exterior of the Readeez Volume 3 DVD case. He was all over me asking if that was for him. I explained it was a teaching tool to help him learn to read and even though it was Saturday morning, he gladly gave up watching cartoons (he never does this) to switch to Readeez.

Readeez Volume ThreeAs a mom – you’re always excited to watch your child’s reaction to something new. Even though this particular DVD – Volume 3, was a bit over his level – he loved every bit of it. Jer is a music lover. In fact he informed his dad and me that he wants to be a rockstar. The Readeez DVD was just up his alley. I watched him rock out to the cool tunes and sing along while learning. I was shocked to realize he remembered the math portion later on at dinner. He just randomly blurted out what 4+4 was. Needless to say – I quickly became a fan too.

If you’re a parent who loved Schoolhouse Rock. Get on this! It has a similar feel and the music is super cute without becoming stuck in your head. Your kids can have fun learning without feeling that they have to sit still. Personally – I plan to check out their Pre-K offerings so he can start at his level and move up.

Final verdict from our household of 4…eight enthusiastic thumbs up!

Perfectly Perrywinkle Back-To-School

Perfectly Perrywinkle Back-to-SchoolLittle Miss A, my oldest, my first-born had her first day of Pre-K yesterday. In preparation I made sure she had a few days of Little Gym summer camp since she’s been home with me 24/7 pretty much.

And even though summer camp gave her a little taste of what school would be like she was still nervous about going to school.

Days leading up to school DaddyB and I talked school up telling her what it would be like, how much fun she would have, and tried to calm her fears.

Miss As First Day of PreschoolYesterday morning when she woke up she was in a great mood, {which at 4 years old sometimes can be a toss up}, she got dressed in her school uniform, but most importantly added her Perfectly Perrywinkle headband to complete the cutest preschool outfit ever. {Sorry for the mobile pic but our main laptop is in the “shop”.}

Aside from being super cute the headband was customized to Miss A’s school colors, red, white, and navy, and at Perfectly Perrywinkle you can request colors to go with your child’s favorite outfit, your family’s favorite sports team, or you can select one of their pre-made headbands listed on their Etsy site.

The headbands are a little pricier than most of Miss A’s other headbands, but for one she can wear to school anytime we’ll be able to get a lot of use out of it, plus they make perfect gifts, *hint, hint!!

Perfectly Perrywinkle’s headbands are for any age, brand new baby girls through sassy moms and can dress up any outfit. The headbands and materials are made with great care and cute fabric and you can really tell. Make sure you check out their Facebook page and feel free to tell them MommyB sent you.

I received super cute samples of Perfectly Perrywinkle headbands for this review, which in no way effect my opinions expressed in this post. All opinions expressed are mine, however yours may vary,

Little Looster Potty Stool Spotlight

Little Looster Logo For those of you who have conquered potty training you know that it is truly no joke. When it comes to teaching little ones how to use the toilet there are often many steps, tricks-of-the-trade and different techniques used in the process. Obviously because it can be a grueling process anything that makes potty time easier is welcomed.

One of those tools that make potty training one step easier is the Little Looster – Looster Booster. The Looster Booster has no installation, it’s as easy as using a stool, but covers more surface area.

Looster Booster

Not only is the Looster Booster easy to clean but it’s very lightweight and easy to move if you don’t want it in the bathroom, although Little Looster says it’s easy for parents to use the toilet with the Looster Booster in place. Even though the stool is lightweight the built-in grips at the bottom of the Looster Booster help to keep it from shuffling around or tipping.

Creator Monica Mylet is not only an inventor but she’s also a mom, so she’s built Looster Booster from her own experiences with her three children. How nice to have a mom who can relate standing behind a product to help other moms?!?

When I had first heard of Little Looster I thought it was an amazing idea and I wished I had heard about it sooner, but I’m very excited to be able to use it once Baby C is a little bigger.

If you are getting ready to potty train or have already potty trained and have issues with little one getting on the potty or losing the feeling in their legs I suggest you check out Little Looster’s Looster Booster. You can visit their website here: http://www.littlelooster.com/ and check out their Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Little-Looster/122552497774389

When did you start potty training? What tips and tricks do you use for encouraging your child to go potty?

This post is a spotlight on Little Looster’s Looster Booster, this is not a review as I have not tried out the product with my own children yet, I will however update with a review when Baby C is old enough to potty train.

Happy Future Organic Baby Line

Happy Future LogoAre you a parent to a child with sensitive skin? Whether it’s diaper rash, eczema, or sensitive skin that is triggered by any slight irritant it’s not easy knowing which products will help and which will make them worse. Happy Future, one of the few certified organic baby skin care lines, is one of the best options available.

Happy Future products are made with ingredients that have no nut derivatives, are paraben free, made without silicone, perfumes, or artificial coloring and even their packaging is recyclable. So not only good for baby but good for the Earth, who could ask for more? Me, I ask that their products also work, what are great, organic, Eco-friendly products if they don’t work?

I used Happy Futures Liniment Lotion (Diapering Lotion), Moisturizing Cream for Face & Body, Non-Rinse Cleansing Lotion, and Delicate Cleansing Gel Shower & Bath. Each product is hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested, so I felt safe trying them out on my own girls who suffer from different degrees of eczema, neither of which are extreme cases, but all-in-the-same it is something that bothers them, and something I want to make sure to take care of.

Happy Future Liniment Lotion

We found that bathing them every other day, (a good practice to have with kids who have Eczema anyway,) with the shower and bath gel followed up by the moisturizing cream and worked great at keeping the girls skin smooth and soft. In between baths the Non-Rinse Cleansing lotion came in handy and had a gentle non-medicinal smell so I didn’t mind using it throughout the day.

This is the first year we’ve taken Baby C swimming, it seems that the chlorine really irritates her girly bits, which is nothing we saw with Little Miss A, so needless to say the Liniment Lotion has come in extremely handy. The lotion is soothing {from what I can tell} and takes the red away, making baby and me {mommy} feel better. Wondering if any of you have ever had the same issue with chlorinated water.

Thanks to Happy Future I have products I can use on the girls and feel good about them being safe for their skin, resolving their skin problems, AND being good for the planet too. I encourage you to check them out for yourself, whether or not your child has a mild or severe problem I would highly recommend them.

Get your Happy Future products here: http://happyfutureusa.com and check out their other site here: http://babyfun.us

Do your child(ren) have skin issues? How have you tried to make them better/avoid irritations and flare-ups?

A Teddy Bear Picnic To Remember

Teddy Bear Picnic

Amazing! That is the one word I would use to describe the great time had by all at the Teddy Bear Picnic this past Saturday. Thanks to North American Bear Company each of the kids received a different bear. Some of the children didn’t even want to put their bear down, while others were playing, “Ring Around the Rosie”s.

Bear Play

The moms and children donned their adorable duds and came to munch on some of these breakfast favorites: organic milk, orange juice {no pulp of course}, gigantic muffins, a great assortment of kid friendly fruit, teddy bear cookies {mostly for theming}, and thanks to Musselman’s not only did we have a picnic basket, but we got to enjoy some of their healthy AND tasty Totally Fruit applesauce, no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial colors or flavors! Love it!!

And of course, to top off the Teddy Bear theme: Tropical Sun’s own Grabeez Gummy Bears in assorted flavors. Easy for the kids to hold and munch. Or read nutrition information: {I actually think “G” was trying to figure a way to just get the red ones out, those are my favorite.}

G and Tropical Sun Grabeez Gummy Bears

After their bellies were full, the children danced to music, ran around the shaded area and checked out the beautiful water at Cullman Park in the Ballantyne Corporate Park picked out by the amazing photographer for this event, Jamie, with Photography by Jamie Lea.

Here are a few more great shots from the event and to check them all out, head over to Photography by Jamie Lea on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/PhotographyByJamieLea and make sure you like her page.

Kid Basix Review

Kid Basix LogoI am the mom who, for some reason, has had THE worst experience with leaky sippy cups. No matter what brand we’ve used, how much they tout that they are no-spill, inevitably they end up dripping all over the place.

Somehow Kid Basix has designed my miracle sippy cup. Let me introduce you to; the Safe Sippy 2. I did everything I could to try to make this sippy leak, I shook it, held it upside down, rolled it around, and it still maintained it’s no-spill feature. Unbelievable!

Kid Basix The Safe Sippy 2

This sippy cup holds 11 ounces, which is the perfect amount of liquid, in my opinion. The Safe Sippy 2 features 3 different adaptors, which allows the sippy to almost grow with your child.

Adaptor #1– The Sippy Plug allows your little one to tip and sip their drink like any other sippy.

Adaptor #2-The Straw and Straw Adaptor transforms The Safe Sippy 2 into a “big kid” cup so when your child’s ready for the next step it’s super easy to convert to the straw option.

Adaptor #3– The Travel Plug. If you’re going far or travelling a long distance this is an accessory you MUST have to keep the liquid right where it’s supposed to be, inside the cup and not all over everything else.

Another great bonus to The Safe Sippy 2 is that the plastic handles are removable so your child can have the option to keep them on or take them off, plus it’s great for minimizing dishwasher space.

Kid Basix Sippy Cup LineNot only are the Kid Basix products made to stand out with their sporty, colorful designs, but they are also BPA-Free and made from stainless steel. They produce baby bottles, sippy cups, and sports bottles so when you fall in love, {and you will} every member of every age in your family can sport Kid Basix.

To purchase your Kid Basix drink holders and find out more information on their complete line visit their website: http://www.kid-basix.com and check out their Facebook page too: http://www.facebook.com/kidbasix

Have you ever used Kid Basix? What sippy cups have you found that surprise you {in a good or bad way} and how did they surprise you?

I received products from Kid Basix in order to complete this review. This in no way impacts my opinion of their products and the opinions expressed above. The review is based on my opinion and experiences with Kid Basix products, yours may vary.

Dora’s Explorer Girls: Dora All Grown Up

Dora Grown up April 10 2010 On April 10, 2010, last year, I wrote on my family website about the possibility of Nick Jr.’s Dora the Explorer all grown up. Here is a picture to the left depicting the current Dora and what they wanted her to look like after she aged. But then it was all pipe dreams.

Say, “Goodbye” to Map, Backpack, Boots the Monkey, Isa the Iguana, Benny the Bull, Tico the Squirrel, the Grumpy Old Troll, Big Red Chicken, Azul, Swiper the Fox, the Fiesta Trio, Mami, Papi, Abuela, and the rest of the old Dora “cast”.

In less than a week from today, the new “crew” is making their debut and the pipe dreams are coming to fruition with Dora’s Explorer Girls! On Sunday, August 7th at 8:00pm Nick Jr. is premiering the new episode. Where a “grown-up” version of Dora, along with her friends, Naiya, Kate, Emma, and Alana go on an adventure when they realize they’ve forgot their tickets to hit-singer, Shakira’s concert.

Dora's Explorer Girls and Shakira

Photo provided by: Nick Jr.

Dora’s Explorer Girls features Dora, {who now lives in the city} and her four friends who are trying to make the world a better place by working together. Each girl has their niche, Dora is great at reading maps and being a leader, Naiya is the expert on the universe, exploring stars and space, Kate “speaks out” encouraging people to make things better by taking action, Emma brings people together by making music with her violin {sometimes Dora joins in with her flute}, and last but not least, Alana teams up with others through playing soccer and being an organizer, rallying people to work together.

Miss A, who is now 4 years old, loved Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go, but recently has left those shows behind for the likes of Olivia, The Fresh Beat Band, and even Dino Dan. I’m interested to see if this older version of Dora, and her friends will be something she likes. So far, after seeing the previews on Nick Jr. she has asked me to make sure she gets to watch it next Sunday.

For my youngest, Baby C though I’d still like to see the short, round Dora and her gang of silly friends, or maybe even Dora’s younger brother and sister as a spin-off of Dora the Explorer.

Are your children excited to see the new Dora’s Explorer Girls? How about you?

For more information on Dora’s Explorer Girls show, videos, {including Shakira’s Todos Juntos, the music video/song featured in the premier episode} and games, check out Nick Jr.’s website here: http://www.nickjr.com/doragirls

Will Blog for Pampers and a Giveaway Too {CLOSED}

Will Blog for Pampers

Will Blog for PampersWe are a Pampers family through and through, although I’ve always had intentions of trying out cloth I never could bring myself to use anything other than Pampers. I know they work, we’ve used them since day 1 when Little Miss A was born over 4 years ago, and I am totally the kind of person who has the, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it mentality.” {Although you will never hear me use the word a’int in normal conversation.}

When Pampers told me the exciting news that they were launching improvements for their Cruisers line I was elated. But then I wondered how they could make, in my opinion, a really awesome diaper even better. Here’s how:

Pampers is taking their Cruisers line and giving it a softer, quilted backsheet, very similar to the beloved Swaddlers that we wish all diapers were like. Honestly, I have not heard one mom say they didn’t fall in love with Swaddlers when they used them. Cruisers are also getting a longer absorbent core, for even more protection, and drier skin for your baby. And lastly, one of the most FUN innovations is….OSCAR!!!!

Oscar the Grouch Pampers

 Yep, that’s right folks, Oscar the Grouch is making his debut appearance on Pampers Cruisers. Just in case your child is having a rough day, you can literally turn them into a cranky pants kid. Plus it’s nice to look up and see the furry eyebrows for a laugh when you’re wrestling with your active toddler trying to get the clean diaper on.

Aside from this green grump, Sesame Street’s finest also appear on the diapers, from the lovable red monster Elmo, to the crumb creator himself Cookie Monster your kiddo will love seeing their favorite characters on their diapers. Baby C loves running around in her new Cruisers.Baby C in Pampers Cruisers

If you’re not a Pampers family, but have been wanting to try them out, {like a few of you who I have been chatting with here and there} your chance has come!

Pampers has offered to give one lucky MommyB Knows Best reader a chance to win their very own pack of Pampers Cruisers with the new, and improved features.

How to Win

Tell me what kind of diapers you currently use. Whether they are cloth, disposable, or homemade. I’d love to hear your favorite brand. And if you’re thinking about switching I’d love to hear why. And even if you don’t use Pampers and don’t want to try them out yourself consider donating the prize to a local charity or family who is unable to cloth diaper for one reason or another.

Not Required, but we’d love it if you’d go check out Pampers here: on their website, on Facebook, and on Twitter.

RulesGiveaway ends August 8th @12:00 am. The winner will be chosen at random, verified, emailed, and announced in a Winner’s post. The winner has 48 hours to respond to the email from MommyB to claim the prize, if the prize is not claimed within 48 hours a new winner will be chosen at random. You must be a US resident and 18 years or older to enter.

I received a bag of Pampers new design diapers to try out, this in no way impacts my honest thoughts on the product, but allows me to give you a complete review.
